I can understand the Latin immigrant part since I live in Texas, but the large drop of Catholics in Louisiana is quite baffling. And when you put the two numbers side by side things look kinda weird...

People worry about the religious right because for the past 15 years they have held more political sway than their numbers would indicate. The combination of corporate interest and social conservatives brought the Republican party to power.

Other issue is in a shift with Protestants. Moderate Protestants such as Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopal are in severe decline both as a percentage and in real numbers. On the other hand evangelicals are growing in number and have become the dominate Protestant group. So while they are declining in terms of percentage you should expect more knocks on your door by those hoping to "save" you.

I suspect Louisiana data would be confusing due to large shifts in population due to hurricane Katrina.

    I'm a noner!

Whoa! What happened to CA? With a big RR movement on the left coast, many people will be conflicted about their feelings toward our crazy state. Do you condemn the state for its educated liberals, or do you praise the state for a growing religious right? Tough call.

    Smite me, Kow.

Yes, I do know the answer, but I'm not that far yet to find out what the question is.

Because they are an extremely vocal minority--especially on the internet. And they have taken over the Republican party. Even the Internet NY Times tones down anti-Republican lead stories compared to their print edition front page. I read the Times every day and noticed the difference. Amazing.

That fly on the wall is mine. I've always loved tinkering with toys, and miniaturised spybots seemed a natural progression. I worried you might think it was a little out of season, but I told him to stick to the farm.

PS. You should put some cream on that zit. :D
