the time has come for our greasecar to find a new home. it's made it financially possible for me to send DH back to school, but he's done in 2 weeks. we don't need 3 cars and he has chosen his beloved rebuilt project car over the greaser. it's a 1985 MB 300D turbodiesel ~24 miles/gallon wvo (open highway) ~900 miles/gallon diesel during peak operation (open highway, warm weather, clean wvo filter) ~260k miles -5-cyl 3L engine -auto transmission -full two-tank wvo conversion (greasecar) with additional coolant heater coil (frybrid), will install injector line heaters before sale. -includes electric pump for oil collection -also includes full centrifugal filtration setup and several oil barrels and cubies -will throw in however much wvo (filtered and/or unfiltered) we have on hand at the time of the sale -will also throw in 1-2 oil changes worth of rotella t heavy duty diesel engine oil -and whatever else we have for the car at the time asking $3000 location: asheville, NC feel free to PM with questions. for us, the car paid for itself in about 18,000 miles.
the car starts and stops on diesel, but once it's warmed up you drive on wvo. so you can go hundreds of miles on one gallon of diesel. if you run on straight diesel, i think it's in the ~24 mpg range also. but we didn't do any real diesel-only driving when there was free fuel to use
While it makes perfect sense to offer the car to your Prus Pals first, if there are no takers here I bet you'll do well sending a note to www.homepower.com
thanks folks. it's still for sale, have gotten several inquiries but so far nothing solid. we're probably going to put it on ebay when we have a chance.
