How about a contest. No prizes, just general admiration for whoever can come up with the most creative, most satisfying idea for what to do with these grey plugs that live where well-meaning industrial designers intended foglamps. Decorate, disguise, repurpose, whatever. Go at it. :)

Gun ports for retractable, fully automatic, 500 round paintball guns with
trigger on the steering wheel. High pressure air tank mounted in the
volume formerly occupied by the coolant holding tank.

Typical use would be to obscure the license plates of numb-nuts
    drivers who cut you off.

Let them explain it to the cops why they're running illegally.

Secondary use would be to put some snap in the step of the clowns
who cross the street in front of you at a glacial pace because bovine
obstruction the extent of their ability to interact with the real world.

Use of limo tint and this license plate blocker optional, but highly recommended:

How bout a video camera to capture the incriminating evidence instead?

Or, for those who are less scrupulous, fricken laser beams shouldn't be so hard.

How about tiny wind turbines? Bet we could pick up a watt or two, heading down the highway...

Remove the grey plastic plugs and install ducting to route cold air to the front disc brakes...

Or, have the ducting feed the engine air intake, yielding a Ram-Air Prius!

I fear many of these additions would spoil that .25 CD ;-) Then again, so would opening the moon roof.

Remove the plug and insert a realistic toy cat half way into the hole head first.

    Install LED DRLs.

Stick on white reflectors. They might look a little like fog lights and would be as effective at lighting the road as the fog lights Toyota fit to the 2004 - 2009 Prius.

Oh yuck. I hadn't seen that picture before.

Was it so hard to create two bumper mouldings, Toyota?

How about a fake plug for the non plug-in hybrid system.

Sad but true. I don't understand why some posters like fog lights, the 2G ones add zero value from my perspective.

Maybe they help other drivers to see you, but if an oncoming driver can't see the HID headlights s/he must be blind.

I would put a 3000k HID lamp kit with projectors in there for a nice yellow beam.

Have a dealer install fog lamps in the spot for fog lamps.

I found with my last car (2001 Ford Focus) that in real fog, the high beam headlamps simply reflect off the fog and make visibility worse, while the combination of low beam headlamp and fog lamp improves visibility close to the car.

The step up from my T3 to the T4 grade adds fog lamps and the 6-CD nine-speaker JBL audio, for an extra £785 (4.3%). I decided I didn't need them.

Having said that, Toyota GB's website says 'Front fog lamps enhance the aerodynamic good looks...' - clearly, not fitted for actually improving the visibility!

Where is the rear red foglight mounted on the UK Prius? I assume that is still a requirement there?

It's still a requirement. It's part of the main rear light cluster, I must confess I don't know exactly where as I haven't checked that it actually works! There isn't an extra low-level rear fog light on it.

    I'll take a look later.

Thanks, I recall seeing after market looking fog lights on Camrys over there.
