The Silver Package is most similar to this year's Package #4, with some plusses and minuses.

The Gold Package is most similar to this year's Package #6, plus SR / SP ( Solar Panel ) and the heated seats

The Platinum Package loses the SR / Solar but gains the 17" wheels. I believe that I heard/read that they didn't want to take a double hit on fuel economy by having both the SR/Solar and the 17" wheels. To be confirmed.

It is. Remember the official pictures? One of them show the streamers on the vents? Look at the radio, it's the standard radio, not the navigation screen.

These first three packages are NOT the final ones that will be offered to the general public. I'd be nearly 100% certain that there will be at least 5 or 6 or 7 different packages from a base model ( no EJ = base audio w/o XM ) up to the Platinum Package.

    Such as...
    Package 1 = Silver - EJ
    Package 2 = Silver
    Package 3 = Silver + Navi only
    Package 4 = Silver + SR/SP only
Package 5 = Silver + Leather + Heated seats, but no Navi or SR/SP
    Package 6 = Gold
    Package 7 = Platinum

Fog lamps, 3-door SKS and maybe 17" Alloys could be stand alone options for those demanding them such as they do on many other Toyota's. What's certain is that soon after launch one will be able to buy 17" alloys and add them to a Silver or Gold Package from the factory.

Very good PI work. I also saw a picture of a moonroof GenIII with fog lamps.

I wonder if Ford or GM listen to the forums and respond like Toyota do when they have a new model coming? I know they do on the Volt site but that isn't a car, it's just green wash.

I hope you are right with your ideas. They make a lot of sense. I really want a gold package car with fog lamps. I hope Toyota is listening to us and wil deliver.

I believe there is a Platinum without the ACC/PCS/LKA/IPA but with nav.

Correct, if the "leaked" list was correct.

Yes, it is contingent on that. Of course, we don't know if it's finalized. There's still a month and a bit (or is it two months and a bit?) before they start actual production.

My current Prius fog lamps are not crap. They are great for their purpose.

Toyota is a company that listens. That's why they are the leader in the world today. They build cars that don't break down, have world class design, and offer great resale value. Their support teams listen and react. If you personally don't want fog lamps, you don't have to get them. Those of us who need them, want the availability to get them.

    Thank you Toyota.

You haven't read the forums much have you?
If you had you would know I am about as close as you get to Toyotas number 1 fan. I have driven Toyotas for about 25 years now and currently own just 5 of them. My oldest is a 1968 MS55 Crown with under 20,000 miles the newest in my Prius. When I make a critical statement about anything Toyota I do it after very careful thought. If you care to start a poll, "are Prius fog lights crap" I bet the majority agree with me. The fogs in the Prius are garbage that look pretty and might work as a DRL but as far as helping you see, by the time an object is visible in the light of Prius fog-lights if your moving faster than 10 MPH you have hit the object before you can react to it. For me I can't even use the fogs for DRLs because it isn't legal to drive with fogs on if there is no rain or fog! You should admit now as you have said in other posts that you want the fog lights because you don't like the look of the plugs in the holes where the fog lights mount. For you the purpose of the fog-lights is to fill the holes where the fog lights mount.

It makes me angry when someone thinks I put Toyota down, I simply stated an opinion which I believe from actually reading people's posts, is a majority opinion among PC members. It is feedback like this that will help Toyota improve there cars.

Toyota make the best cars currently on the market, but the fog lights in the Gen II Prius are crap! For most people this isn't a deal breaker I know.

Thanks for your quick response. I respect your opinion and apologize for upsetting you.

My fog lamps do light up the road in front of me. It might not pick up a deer in a distance, but it further alerts other oncoming cars in bad weather. I also like how it dresses up the front of the car.

Yeah see that's exactly it. The Prius is more of "hey i'm over here" than "whoa, what's over there". It's for others to be able to see you. Now, if we were able to get the 1G Matrix foglights, those look quite bright and have a nice and wide coverage.

I find the fogs help warm up the cool-ish light of this hids, provide additional "here I am" light, and illuminate close up objects. I run them all the time, and surprisingly, am still on the original bulbs!

Have your lens cracked yet? Mine cracked over this past winter.

There's a ton of construction around here, which means lots of gravel bits end up on the highway. I'm on my 4th windshield because of that, and the fog lamps were victims of this too. Fortunately I have free glass coverage w/ my insurance.

Stone took one out, possibly both (can't remember now). I found the replacements online cheaper than my local dealer, but remember the dealer price at the time was US$108 per. I fashioned some mesh covers w/ 1/8" steel chicken wire and hot glue into the facia to protect them. Problem is, now I can't clean the lenses w/o removing the entire assembly. I can tell they've worked though as both have been depressed in by stones that would have otherwise taken out the lens assembly.

I'm hopeful, but pessimistic that the 2010 fog lamps will be plastic vs. glass this time around. Glass 6-8" from the ground is silly w/ all of the projectiles around here.

I'm thinking sooner or later I'm going to replace all bulbs though just to restore original brightness.

Indeed. Mine has cracked because of the heat. I used them extensively this past winter because of the unusually heavy snowfall on the west coast (before hand, I'd probably use them once every few months). They've cracked from the inside.... jeez.

First off thanks for info!!! Something puzzled me. I noticed that on the official options list that was just released, the solar package included the nav and backup. This would add a lot of money just to get the moon roof.
