Those women are always kind of skinny. But then, I don't have a TV anyway. Oh, and I've never understood the appeal of high heels.

The attraction of high heels is fairly easy to understand. When humans reach puberty, they tend to stretch out, especially in the legs. Long leg length is a signal of fertility, so really long legs must mean that a woman is very fertile.

On a more practical standpoint, high heels keep women from running when we chase them.

I thought a big nose was a sign of fertility

I knew there must be a practical reason for them. I like the look, but if I were a woman I would not wear them. My feet already hurt in normal shoes.

Yea, it's crazy what people do for looks. If women ever figure out that most men are simply grateful to have a naked woman with them in the same room it will kill off the fashion industry.

We had a good discussion in Detroit about how lingerie looks on the floor. One PCer (I will protect her identity since she is a witch ) said her husband buys lingerie based on that criterion. At a lingerie store, he picks up an interesting little piece of clothing, drops in onto the floor, and says "Yea, I think that one will work." Right after that one of our Australian members (I won't say who ) pulled out his cell phone and showed us a photo of lingerie crumpled on the floor. It must be a common thing. As for me, I think of lingerie as garnish for women.

If you had a television you'd be able to watch Shark Week and know a lot more about how dangerous sharks are.

    She's not skinny she's delectable.

You are very good at protecting identities.

I feel left out - I didn't get an invite to Detroit, but I couldn't have made it anyway. From looking at Dr. Fusco's photos, it looked like a fun time.

This will surprise nobody, since I know I have a reputation as an oddball, but I find that all the things women do to make themselves more attractive actually make them less attractive, with the exception of washing. Makeup, high heels, silk stockings, jewelry, body piercings, tattoos, changes from their natural hair color, hair styles other than just wash it and brush it, fingernail and toenail paint... all these things, to my eye, make women less attractive, and when taken to extremes, makes them a lot less attractive.

When I lived in Queretaro, Mexico, the woman who collected my rent was quite unattractive. But once I went to her apartment (as usual) to pay my rent, and she had just taken a shower and had not had time to put her makeup on (no, she was not naked; she was dressed but without makeup) and she was a very attractive woman.

I suppose there are surgical procedures which, when done tastefully and competently, can make a woman more attractive. But "dressing up" definitely does not, to my eye. One of the perks of the kind of ecological trips I like to take (hiking, snorkeling, scuba, etc.) is that the women on these trips generally leave the makeup at home, and as a result are ten times more attractive than they'd probably be on a trip to Paris or on a cruise ship.

Daniel, women gussy up to meet the expectations of other women, just as much they do it for men ... if not more. That's the nature of 'style' ... expectations of fitting in. But here's my 'beauty is only skin deep' story. I hooked up with a runner-up for Miss CA (came up from Riverside County), some 2 decades ago. Wow, what a resume ... interned for the secret service, ballet, bilingual, and oh so beautiful. Years later, I found out from a buddy that she'd followed my example by going to law school ... and is now working as an orange county deputy D.A. It all sounds so perfect.
I eventually discovered why she'd lied about one little thing ... oh! I mean, why she 'forgot' to tell me one thing (sarcasm), that she was married (to some poor Marine, stationed Camp Lejeune NC).
This beauty pagent's marriage was a big secret because the contestants are supposed to be single ... thus she defrauded the appropriate Riverside County winner out of collage scollarship money. If the D.A.'s office or the CA bar knew what she'd done, BAM ~ her license would be pulled for EVER, for the dishonesty.
Bottom line is, as rare as 'perfect beauty' is, it's even MORE rare to find someone with their head screwed on straight. But who want's to look at just a personality ? There goes my shallow side. :p

Interesting story. The funny thing is that I see prettier women just out and about than I ever saw in beauty pageants when I had a TV and could watch them. And then you go on a snorkeling trip where the women are wearing bathing suits but no makeup, and WOW!!!

As far as the honesty thing, I thought lawyers are required by their ethical standards to lie: "Your honor, my client is innocent..." when the lawyer knows the guy is guilty. But if the lawyer says "Your honor, my client is guilty..." he's violated his code of conduct and the judge will reprimand him and maybe his client will sue him for malpractice.

But then, I'm prejudiced against lawyers. My experience with them has left a bad taste in my mouth. But that's another story.

You aren't supposed to use your snorkel in the hot tub!

You don't really need a snorkel in a hot tub. Regular swim goggles are adequate. The snorkel is for the Caribbean. But believe it or not, the snorkel is best for looking at the fishes. The best view of the girls is lounging on the boat between swims.

I've also worn swim goggles in aquatics classes. Interestingly, the only women who complained were the ones I had no interest in ogling. But my main purpose for wearing the swim goggles is that I like to cavort when I'm in the water, but I'm a wimp about getting water in my eyes.

Tom, that Aussie didn't want that mentioned in the open forums of Prius Chat. It wasn't his wifes lingerie!
    Too late now.

I agree Daniel, no not about you being an oddball, that goes without saying :) but that women in general look better without all the paint and fittings.
I hate tats and piercings a lot, natural tidy clean nails cant be beat I hate excess ring wearing. I don't mind some hair colour and high heals but I don't think anything compares to the beauty of a woman in her own skin.

    Too skinny and ropey. Next!

Dave, I have to say that you come off as a right c*nt about 90% of the time... but that was funny. Daniel's still right about sharks though.

Spot on. In Scotland, substitute 'Sheep' for 'Woman' and it's still true.
