Favorite 2010 Features?

Yes you can do it, but only by voice command like the current Navi version. It's just easier in the Gen4 Navi.

 

Will powered driver's seats be offered?

 

Thanks. I just hope the seats are more cushioned. My 1995 Tercel has more comfortable seats than the 2005 Prius.

 

The driver's seat is very comfortable.

 

They are. The seats have more thigh support, as well as more comfy cushions.

The dim steering wheel switch lights have been replaced by a touch sensitive system that brings up an image of the switch cluster on the instrument display showing which button your thumb is on at the moment.

I doubt that you ever could be wrong. Still, I asked one of the Toyota reps who replied the tank still held 11.4 gallons, but the rubber bladder had been replaced by a hard plastic tank. No more troubles filling in the winter!

 

A somewhat mundane question perhaps, but what are the recommended tire pressures for the new Prius? 35F/33R psi as on the G2, or have they changed them?
Also who will the OEM tire manufacturer be?

 

i could be wrong, but between the front seats, under the split console with the power tap, it shows what appears to be 2 heated seat buttons. if so, that would be a very welcome feature!

 

Favorite Features? I'll try to list the ones that I liked the most, but I doubt I'll catch them all or even list them in an orderly manner.

• Exhaust gas recirculation. This rids the car of the thermos and allows the engine block to heat up more quickly. Earlier efficiency and cleaner exhaust lead to higher MPGs and lower emissions!
• LED headlights!
• Touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel that produce something like a heads-up display (not on the windscreen but on the dash) allowing you to see just which button you are about to push. No more complaints about faint lighting on the steering wheel buttons!!
• Lane change assist/warning.
• Auto-variability in cruise control tied to separation between vehicles. I believe they said it was radar-controlled, though I thought it would be infrared (someone fill me in!).
• Telescoping steering column.
• Auto up/down on all windows (with protective stop).
• No more belts on the ICE -- even the oil pump is electric.
• More cargo space (5.5 cu ft increase in interior space).
• Push button SKS is replaced by a sensor!!
• EV button!!
• Eco Button!! (I believe the chief engineer said 15% less power applied at the 50% depression point on the accelerator would lead to significant improvement in MPGs -- and this wasn't part of the calculation that led to the 50 MPG (combined) EPA number!!!)
• New read-out showing rate of demand and regen applied to the traction battery. This should give us another point of feedback that allows us to learn even more efficient driving.
• Toyota after-market add-on for iPod integration. This would allow full use of the iPod through the steering wheel buttons. I believe it will have a USB connection (allowing simultaneous charging?).
• Heated seats!
• Fold-away head supports on rear seats allows easy folding with no need to remove the head rests.
• "Tighter" sound to the doors, especially the hatchback. This suggests a quieter ride.
• Less grill space in front (better for winter temp control).
• Solar panels on the roof driving a ventilation system.
• Moonroof!!

And . . . did someone say BETTER MPGs?

Anyway, this is a partial list of my favorite things.

 

My fav features so far (basically all features that improve mpg):

Led headlights (hopefully more reliable, cheaper then HIDs, and energy efficient)
solar panel (although it would suck if it required the moon roof)
Exhaust heat recycling
New gas tank
Better seats (Hopefully the fabric is also improved - toyota's fabric leaves much to be desired in terms of quality)

Most wanted features:
Automatic grill block
Rear skirts

Dislikes:
Larger wheels (heavier and decreases mpg)

 

My favorite feature is using a larger displacement engine and getting better MPG especially on the highway! Prius defies conventional thinking again!

The Iconic model defied with the city MPG higher than the highway MPG.

 

No more belts on the ICE -- even the oil pump is electric.

The oil pump has always been mechanical. The water pump was previously belt driven. That's what's been replaced by an electric pump.

 

1) VSHA and TSW
2) 3 driving modes (becoming more common on sport motorcycles too)

 

I may have missed it, but I wonder if that slightly faster 0 - 60 time was in the Economy mode or the Power mode.

My favorite new features:

1. Improved Suspension (it sounds like it may handle at least as well as the current Touring Edition).

2. Wider Tires.

3. Moonroof (but too bad it's coupled with the solar panel system which I don't want to have to pay for).

4. Better Seats (more supportive; height, tilt and lumbar adjustments; seat can go 3 or 4 inches further back than the current seat).

5. Telescoping Steering Wheel.

6. Rear Disc Brakes.

7. Active Headrests.

 

I thought that shifter tip supposed to glow in the dark?

 

it seems both mpg and 0/60 are in normal mode... so both should improved, if person uses appropriate modes .
