The Toyota "Build Your Own" feature tells me that a top of the line 2009 Prius will cost me $31,499. Are you North-westerners getting getting some sort of break that we don't in the South? :)

first of all, base should be very decently priced.... but top of the line? Radar Cruise Control/LKA/LKW/PreCrash, will probably be 3k option (minimum, it is more advanced system than in LS600h, which costs 2.9k)...

    + moon roof & solar panel = ~2K ( remember not a 09 option)

yeah, 2k probably, as it is really moon roof + panoramic roof... maybe even more :).

No wonder that US might not get some navi options, as another 2-3k of options would really make it go up in price :).

Thing is that in Europe, it competes with higher end vehicles, and hence higher price/features will be nice.

$32,995 fully loaded without dealer add ons...much more and it will be up against Lexus.

So we've been unofficially been told to expect a $10-$12k price gap between a particular lower package and the highest possible package (which ironically excludes the moon roof for weight reasons). The lower package we saw isn't base, but probably not far from it.

There will NOT be a Touring Edition in 2010 (this was expressly told to me by the Toyota folks in Detroit).

And I hear that not all of the new options will be available on one car, e.g., I understand that you will not be able to get the 17" wheels and the moonroof/solar panel on the same car.

Wonder how much the parking assist (parallel parks itself) will be. I don't want it, and I'd hate to be stuck with the de facto cost of that thing if it's packaged with other options that I do want.

yeah, i'm not a fan of how they've packaged the options. I like the radar CC and the moon roof/solar panels, but cant get em on the same package. Hmmmmmmm.

i would want the platinum package with sunroof/solar panels or i would consider sunroof with no solar panels, and they won't offer either.

note: how both the middle and high packages both come with leather

I'll revise my guess to the 32,000-35,000 range fully loaded

Possibly, they aren't stuck going through the same regional distributors that tack on an extra 1-2k on Toyotas down there. I've purchased my Toyota's in the midwest even when I lived in the South for that very reason. Don't know if it would show up in the "build your own" stuff.

Interesting. I "priced with options" at Kelly Blue Book and got $29,165 for a package 6 Touring. It did say to check with dealer for "Mandatory Charges" in NC, SC, FL, AL, MS, LA, TX AR, OK. I wonder if the charges are on all brands or just for Toyota? I don't buy new cars but if I did, I would be heading 4 hours north to Nashville to buy a car.

My guess is Silver - $23,500, Gold - $28,000, and Platinum - $34,500. I wish that you could get the sunroof with the platinum package or at least the 17 inch wheels with the Gold package.

It's just Toyota, they have two large legacy distributors who get their cut by adding on extra charges/options and reducing availability on what you actually want. I never got within ~$2,000 in trying to purchase three different Toyota's over the years. So I bought other manufacturers' vehicles for the first two. On the third I called up in the Midwest where I was headed for a trip and had my exact desired options and price with VIN in ~5 minutes.

I doubt the actual charge differences on KBB are at such a large differential, but the regionals in the South were invariably adding junk I didn't want to the standard packages, so the effective prices were much higher.

I'd vote for LED headlamps and 17"s on the Gold.

I think that at least the LED's should be available with the solar/vent/cooling on the gold. I'm not interested in halogens. I didn't hear that question asked last night. Looks like that will be an early mod. Maybe tochatihu can find a deal in China

I'm in with the "pricey" crowd on this one. I think they'll hold tight on the base model ($700 increase), but the fully loaded one is going to be REALLY LOADED. I'm going to simply ignore the OP's final request and offer a price of $35,839

    I'm guessing close to US$36k.

Why? Well for one thing, not everything will be included as you guys probably found out. Secondly, ACC/PCS isn't an inexpensive option (see the ES350 options list to get a price on that. I believe it's close to $2k). Then you have to add LKA on top of that. In addition, there's IPA added to the navigation package (I hate the fact that b/c the MFD is no longer standard, that means that a backup camera will only come with navigation-equipped models).

For Canada, I expect it close to the mid $30s BUT we will not have the ACC/PCS/LKA cause stuff like this just don't come to Canada unless it's > $80k which is good I suppose cause that'll help keep the cost down in Canada. I'm hoping because of the lack of ACC/PCS/LKA that they'll put the solar panels and LEDs together.
