Great picture, that is my color choice for my 2010 and now its my wallpaper :) thanks!

I just ran the link through Babblefish and it shows a "Pre crash safety system" " ultra high frequency radar system " wow! that must be the lens that we saw in the windshield

I just figured out that Babblefish is translating Prius as Pre-Mortar

I found info on the pre-crash safety system here:

Here is part of the article regarding the display but it is tough to figure out the translation but its another "worldwide first"

The cockpit which actualizes high visibility operativity e.g., the worldwide first “touch tracer display” which indicates the place where the ▽ finger touches in center meter is adopted,
To 3.進 the basic efficiency which is converted

This car will sell very well. I'm interested to see the new combined horsepower, curb weight, passenger/cargo weight limit capacity, dimensions, fuel economy, and emissions index.

I would imagine the lights just above the fog lights are daytime running lights (DRL).

And it doesn't have the round sensor(s) in the front bumpers in front of the wheels either.

In translation is says more such as:

"altogether vehicle such as decrease of the electric power consumption with the LED conversion of the lamps with the multiplier effect of improvement of energy efficiency"

"fuel economy efficiency of worldwide highest level and 2.4L Actualizing the power efficiency like the car"

"The Toyota first “solar ventilation system which uses the electric power which generates electricity with the solar panel which is loaded onto the ▽ moon roof, ventilates the interior”
With the switch of the ▽ smart key, from the external air conditioner operation the worldwide first “remote air conditioner system which is possible”"

"As the wide interior space is created with the thin-shaped conversion and the like of the ▽ front seat seat back, by the fact that miniaturization, and arrangement of the hybrid battery are modified, luggage capacity from the current model car approximately 30L enlargement
The ▽ pre- crash safety system (ultra high frequency radar system) in addition to new setting, pursuing class *3 top-level safe efficiency e.g., S-VSC and 7 SRS air bags, active headrest (the driver's seat suicide seat) it equips, With the second look at the ▽ platform, as smooth riding comfort, the straight advancing stability where at high speed is superior is actualized, actualizing the silent characteristic which excels by the fact that the acoustic material damping material is arranged effectively in the high rigid body"

Wow, babel fish really brings meaning to lost in translation

Just did the conversion and the 30L enlargement of the 'trunk' works out to 1.05 cubic feet.

    Hi nameless...,

In the original THS/HSD Prius drive train the MG2 (torquer motor) rotor was directly coupled with the ring gear of the PSD. The motor and ring gear turned at the same speed. This requires a large heavy MG2, which is why the Prius leans a little to the left.

In later HSD systems, starting with the RX400h the ring gear was made a tube, and a secondary planetary gearset was added on the far end of the ring gear (away from the PSD planetary gear set that couples the ring gear, engine and MG1). The motor rotor communicates to that second planetary gear set. The advantage is that you can have a smaller diameter, lighter weight motor, with the same power (by spinning at a higher RPM which is possible because its smaller in diameter), and the torque gets multiplied up through the secondary planetary gear set. They seem to also be able to do away with the chain drive from the ring gear to the axle in these configurations, although I do not know if that is the case with the new Prius. This makes for a smaller overall transmission package.

Looking at the pic it almost looks like there are 3 seperate beams for the LED headlamps, not 2 like I thought. That makes sense after reading articles about the use of these LED headlamps. For the escalade it has even more than 3 I think because they have to use several seperate beams to get the coverage of light provided by halogens and HID's...

Sorry, but something in the front is putting me off. I don't really like the front; I don't know what it is. I think near the front logo, beside it.

However, I like the tech that comes with this! And the door panels look much better than the current outgoing generation. By the looks of the black plastic under the side mirrors, I guess this is the very, very base model?

I hope the interior will be better.

I don't know if it is... It does have fog lamps unless they have become standard. And also, it's got what we've come to believe are the LED headlamps, which I am sure will not be standard.

LED headlamps are the way forward. 50,000 - 100,000 hour life so you should never have to replace a bulb.

I'm impressed with the appparent upgrades. Those attending the show, please sit in a driver's seat and tell us if comfort, adjustments, and quality of materials change.

The current outgoing Prius has black plastic underneath the side mirrors on all trims. I guess my assumption wasn't all that great.

But if it is black on all trims, then it looks kinda weird because of the position it is placed (on the sides of the door, like the Lexus IS)... it looks like as if they ran out of materials and glued that part on.

spwolf pretty much said everything that was written in that article.

I'm starting to like the mirrors. The black posts make it indiscreet and the mirrors look larger than before.

It has a very chiselled look to it.

I plan to, especially to get a sense of ergonomics. Hopefully Toyota has listened to us tall folks (6'4" in my case) who complain about lack of seat height adjustment and thigh support in the current model.
