That Prius Team is a clever lot. I particularly like this: "Too bad it looks like cloudy weather next weekend..."

Get it? Cloudy weather? Solar panel? Get it? :D

You assume that Bossdowner's "leaks" are not part of their viral marketing campaign. They may not be, but I wouldn't be at all surprised. Cool stuff, regardless though :)

No, I don't get it. Solar panel won't work in cloudy weather. So, what else is there to get?

you think they would just buy off the shelf design from someone? Prius would have never been created that way :).

I would not be suprised whatsoever if they create JV with someone for solar cells, Honda already produces solar panels for outdoor use in Japan.... Maybe Toyota will follow?

Ok, I got it.... they were hinting that the pic is solar panel by mentioning about the cloudy weather.

FWD, you are right... solar panels should work off the street lamps at night too. Park near under the lamp!!

I had a good look and I think it's a shadow cast by the solar panel/sunroof on the rear luggage cover or something in the vehicle, not the actual solar panel.

    I could be wrong.
    I was wrong once before,
well I thought I was wrong but as it turned out I was actually right,
so I was wrong about that wasn't I?

Who is getting a bit silly?:blink:

Panasonic has just acquired SANYO, which is for me by far the best solar panels manufacturer. Since Toyota already has a JV with Panasonic (Panasonic EV Energy ) which supplies our wonderful battery packs, I would say it makes sense to team up with Panasonic (former Sanyo) for the solar panels as well.

    :confused:hey people, just wondering,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

HOW MANY are going to trade their newer gen II's for the new prius? mine is an 08, gonna take a big loss ha? i've always leased cars before, not keeping them for long, my other cars i collect i paid cash for.

my gen II is purchased, but i have a balance on it. what's the general consensus?

I got mine on Aug 2006, I've close to 80000 km now, so it's a bit too soon for me. It does not pay off just to gain some 10% on fuel costs, although it does hurt not to have all that new technology we've seen so far on the new model...

I'll wait a year more, or whatever it will take for Toyota to release the Plug-in version. Those 30 km range will make it for me. I drive about 50 km each way every day to work, and I can recharge it there, so that will mean less than 2 litres of gasoline per 100 km, which is a dream come true to anyone

Cool wheels now, but I'm with jprates on this one, will have to wait a few years for them to get the EV range up and iron out all the bugs in the 2010 model, damn ! damn ! damn ! Anyone want an '08 Package 6, low mileage, one careful owner, original tyres ? :p

yeah, when i get my head out of the clouds and look at the numbers, i'm gonna do the same.

being logical and such is so boring. the plug in or all electric is exciting.
