With overwhelming numbers of Priuses reaching 100,000 miles, I thought it is time to do a 200,000 mile club.

For 300,000 miles or above see this thread.

For those that reached 200,000 miles, please post information about your ownership experience. Some questions to think of...

    1) Did you replace the HV battery pack?
    2) Did you replace the 12v lead-acid battery?
    3) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid?
    4) Did you replace the brake pads?
    5) Your lifetime MPG (if available)?
    6) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use?
    7) How about post a picture of 200,000 miles on ODO?

200,000 miles is no big deal for a Toyota. If a Ford hits that mileage Henry sends a letter of congratulations I hear. I also hear he is still using the same pen to write those letters.
I don't get the paranoia regarding the battery, question 1.
I doubt too many lead acid batteries will last much longer than 5 years regardless of mileage and make or model of vehicle. Failure at less than 3 years is normally through neglect or carelessness. Sometimes people claim a longer life because they forgot changing it.

Its not my Prius, but had to go and pick up a Tv so had to take my truck. On the way home it turned over 600,000 miles so I pulled over on the interstate and took a few pics .. I have had the truck for 14 years and drove it everyday until I got my Prius to and from work .I only drive it once a week now(on trash day) and when ever I need to pick something up . Its a Toyota truck with a 5-speed and the 22re motor I have changed oil every 10,000 miles and it still runs great.. I hope to make it to 700,000..:)

What a machine! What year /model Toyota truck?

Speaking of old Toyotas my 35+ year old Corolla is still running, but only has a mere 250K miles. A real low mileage creampuff.:)

Its the original 4cyl motor and transmission.. I have never had to do any work to either. I have had to replace the clutch twice at 270,000 and at 520,000.. I also had to replace a fuel injector at about 500,000 and little stuff like water pump, hoses and alternator . Still has the original starter on it.. My AC quit on me last year, and its the compressor don't know if I will fix that or not. I hope I can get that many miles out of my Prius..:) People always ask me what type of oil I use in it.. I have always put just 10W-30 Pennsoil in it..It gets about 27MPG and if I hypermile it can get about 30MPG with it..

Still just a baby, but our '95 SC400 has 280K miles on it with no break downs or repairs of any sort. Toyota really is the master of reliability.

Our 1998 Honda Accord has 208,000 miles.

Those old Toyota trucks and the 22re are extremely reliable. When it dies, just rebuild the block and keep goin!! Lets go 1,000,000 miles

That's an idea, anyone want to start the "1,000,000 miles and still going strong" thread?

hey, patparks...Might be easier to do a nice metric target... get a gigameter out of one...
1 Gm is about 600,000 miles.

as for the title of the thread... 160,000 miles is about 200 Mm (megameters) for a midway goal between 100 kmiles and 200 kmiles.

That's interesting. How often (miles interval) do you change engine oil and what filter do you use?

I did not see you list transaxle oil change.

    190 divided by 38= every 5k.

Thats odd it would burn oil at all with 5k synthetic intervals.

After 190,000 miles there's likely to be plenty of scoring in the cylinder block. The oil control ring may not be able to provide a good seal any more. It's probably not worth dismantling the engine to replace the rings, though. According to the service manual you have to drop the engine and transaxle, and remove a bunch of components just to be able to do that, before separating engine from transaxle and dismantling the engine. The labour is way more expensive than the value of saving the oil.

The alternative is that the rear bearing seal has failed and started leaking the oil. If it leaks a quart in 5,000 miles, that would be my more likely explanation. The rear bearing seal controls the end of the crankshaft that connects to the transaxle, leaking onto the torque damper assembly.

You can tell which it is by checking for oil drips. Someone once said that there's a fibrous pad somewhere in the vicinity of the engine (for noise damping, perhaps?) which could be absorbing some leaked fluid. Oil being burned in the engine has a distinct smell to it.
