    Nicely done.

Do they really think they are going to reach the point where they have to advertise? ;)

I still don't like the center console, though. adn the temperature control - it moved to the opposite side of the steering wheel!

Now there's a commercial worth watching on TV--with the sound on. Just great.
And the music is as good as it gets--"Something's Coming" from West Side Story.
Anybody ever hear Oscar Peterson's West Side Story album? He does Something's Coming with his trademark rocketspeed tempo.

As for the car, I think the exterior styling is superior to my '08--looks sleeker, which is what was needed. I prefer my dash, however. I like the LCD screen higher for easier viewing, and prefer the shifter on the dash--out of the way. It is never used in normal driving. CVT almost eliminates the need for a shifter. They might be better off with buttons. Remember when GM introduced pushbuttons for their automatics in the 50s? Those were the days.

Yes, for two reasons. If the economy is this slow in six months and they are going to be building them at 2x the rate they will back up.

After the inital rush (which could be six months) they will be freely available. I am assuming less then $3 a gallon gas. Over $4 no ads needed.

The second reason is they are really advertising Toyota technology and promoting the green feel good thing. It makes people look up to Toyota.

Yes. Though I can't prove it.

They had full access to the car (powered up and all). They had the BMG which is not cheap.

The production values are high. It is not like that was a one take job. That took a crew, and a day or two.

Its viral marketing and its good. Also clearly made for the net due to the length of the video. They might be able to re-cut it for 30/60 second TV ads later.

So was I the only one who spotted that Blue Man Group were involved from the first video? You could see a blue hand in a still of the headlamp washer. :)

And there was a blue finger shown before the start stop button pic was shown, so others picked up on it too... :)

Does anyone reckon that Bossdowner's actually responsible for the marketing of the Prius and that it's just that Toyota intentionally disguised him as someone who's not from Toyota? If he wasn't he cannot possibly have all this access and Toyota would have surely done something about all this exposure.

    I hate you.

    BUT I LOVE THE VIDEO!!
Yeah, I laughed out loud at the gas segment. Not only is that so Prius but it's so Blue Man.

How long until there's one in my driveway?

At 1:38 there's a lot of detail of that center console....I don't know how to do a screen grab from YouTube, but I bet we could have a great time with that shot alone.

The EV/ECON buttons are clear. But at the top left of the knob...it looks like a button and 3 little lights...what do you think that is?

I count 7 buttons below each knob...

Me either. If I whine enough, will Toyota listen and get rid of that stupid intrusive waste of space 'arch' and oversized shifter???? I don't mind if they decide to swap controls across the wheel if it makes sense, but they combined the temp up/down with the recirculate button PLUS trip/display(?) Who decided THAT was a logical combination?

I REALLY don't like the 'functionality' changes. MORE buttons, SMALLER buttons. I don't think hitting recirc fast when you see the dead skunk ahead will be possible. And using the buttons I've seen so far looks to be more than a challenge while wearing gloves. Does no one at Toyota consider how the car will be USED as opposed to 'glitz' for the ads?

If they manage to come out with a decent PHEV and still have that arch and shifter, it will be a HARD decision to buy. And if I did, I'd likely take a reciprocating saw to the dang thing and figure out how to put a reasonably sized shifter back on the dash.

And I applaud the arch. IMO it's a true waste of space not to use that area. You can't put anything there. There's still space for storage beneath the arch. The shifter is in a more convenient location...as are the EV and ECON buttons.

You can't please everyone, certainly. But until you have a chance to see it in person and sit in the car you can't really be sure how it'll behave functionally.

I like the arch as well. It seems to give the driver more of a sporty and engaging "wrap around" feel. The current Prius looks empty without something in the middle. The arch also looks better as well.

There are some interesting stuffs going on under the new Prius. From my observation, the exhaust does not go out from the rear. From the reflection, I don't see an exhaust pipe.

Under the passenger side, there seems to be a long line/pipe disappeared around the rear passenger floor. What can it be?

I found a better shot of under the body. The exhaust pipe is definitely missing. Catalytic converter is not where it normally would be.

There is a bar going across under the rear seats. It could be used to stabilize like the BT Plate.

I also notice what seems to be rear disc brake.

I found the Catalytic Converter further up front, can clearly seen in this pic.

The rear spoiler seems to be larger like the Touring Edition but now colored in black.
