According to Forbes, what your car says about you? And yes, it includes the Prius but is it accurate?

Median income of $95,400? I wish. So does this mean I can't buy a Prius since I don't make this much? :D I think not!!!

I don't make nearly that much. And, that's probably in US Dollars, too. Makes my Canadian Dollar salary a pittance. ;)

Hmmm, that's pretty interesting. I'm a Generation Xer, make about half that amount, and care more about the environment than humankind.

I guess I meet the last part. As for the first part, nowhere does it say "College student taking 18 units while working 20 hours a week for $9.50 an hour living at home.....the stereotype posted sounds more like my parents than me and they have a 1998 Honda Accord and a 2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe...

I don't earn that much in AU dollars so in US dollars I am not even earning half that.

I guess my Prius makes me look rich!!

    Haha, mine would be:

You're awesome and so are you're parents! They bought you this car and you drive it like it's nobody's business. You're proud to take a stance to save the environment and you're one of the first to show up in support of a greener world.

<AHEM> "According to Forbes?" It says Esquire and GQ should also be used to decide which car goes with what suit. As for clothing, 'Car and Driver' and 'Motor Trend' tell us what shirt to wear with our cars ... actually I think they do.

As far as I'm concerned, those who buy cars for "statement" or "style" should be limited to models hanging from strings in their bedrooms.

I gotta wonder how hard they're going to laugh if I take this over to HR and ask for the money that's "obviously" missing from my paycheck....

I mean, they printed it so it's gotta be correct, right? ;)

Seriously, I think they've got some very dated data there, or they left a word out:

    • That median income thing may have been true back in the early days, but they can't tell me that with more than a million units on the road, the Prius is only driven by the upper middle class.
    • The alternative is that they left the word "household" out of the sentence...you know as in "median household income of..."

Either way, they've still fallen in the pit of assuming that we're all tree-huggers too. Not that there's anything wrong with being environmentally friendly; I consider myself to be. I just don't like stereotypes.

    I liked this one:
OK, how many people worth $30M came from 'ordinary means'? Maybe if you have that much YOU think 'ordinary means' is your parents were only worth $25M when they were your age

And how come they don't tell us how much the female empty-nester driving the Infiniti EX makes?

And yeah, I'm REAL sure the average Prius owner makes $95K a year. Where do I sign up to get the rest of my $95K?

Definately doesn't describe me...Although I care about the environment and my carbon footprint (please find me a Prius owner who doesn't), I'm a Gen Y'er who definitely makes less than $95k a year!

Clearly a stereotype. To be honest, while I don't hate the environment, I confess that I generally would not even return an aluminum can for recycling if you didn't pay me. :tsk: I clean up my own mess and occasionally think about global warming but I bought my Prius in direct defiance to that idiot that runs GM because this car makes total economic sense, even at $2 per gallon! :rant:plus I think the way we can save the planet is by making environmentally smart activities so economically advantageous that only idiots like GM's CEO would not do them. I think fees at town dumps are ridiculous - why would you want to discourage people from cleaning up trash:crazy: and I think the tax incentives for low emission vehicles should be large and recurring each year you own the car. :rant:OK, rant over.

Actually, we bought the Prius because it's the perfect broo..., uh, car for us.
Low maintenance; fantastic gas mileage; incredibly geeky; and utilizes magic.

I'm also a natural environmentalist, so it appeals to the treehugger in me.

I was kind of hoping that my car wouldn't talk about me, at least not behind my back.

Per "The Millionaire Next Door" by Thomas J Stanley, 80% of millionaires are first generation millionaires. Most got that way by starting and running a successful business.

It says MEDIAN income. That means that half of the Pruis owning population makes more than $95,400 and half makes less. It does not say anything about how much you should earn in order to own a Prius, or if you own a Prius, that you should make that much.
