and if anyone is curious we went from about 47-49 mph with the stock wheels and tires... to 43-45 mpg with the 18" rims...
Nice! I love the 18" rims.....they even-out the look of the whole car. I always think the Prius looks a bit out of proportion with its Big-body, Small-feet (wheels) outline.
I'm curious to how the HID's look at night and how much it cost you to have them put in? I think the white Prius would look good with bigger wheels/different wheels, HID's and yellow fogs...maybe I've been looking at too many Civics
Hello, I'm a newbie here, so forgive me if this has been discussed already in another thread. I think the 18" wheels look great on your wife's Prius and I wanted to upgrade my wheels and tires as well, but when I spoke to a tech at The Tire Rack they told me there is no 18" tire rated for the Prius. According to the same tech, since the Prius is heavy for its class, a tire with an extra load rating is needed and no manufacturer they carry makes a 205/40/18 tire like that. Where you able to find Nitto tires that had the extra load rating? And if they are, where did you buy them from? Otherwise I think I'm looking at the same wheels only 17" for my 2009 Prius. Thanks
Bumper plugs are those things in the front bumper. Where the license plate screws into.........i think?
the bumper plugs are to cover the holes that were drilled into the bumper for the front liscense plate...
hows it going man? i owned a rim shop for 4 years which i sold about a year and a half ago... and one thing i learned, is that most of these people at tire shops i.e. Big-O's, discount tire, tire rack, even the dealerships etc. don't know jack about aftermarket wheels and tires. they basically look up a car and see whats recommended and thats it. we went with a 205/40/18 because its the exact overall height as the stock 16" tires. also this particular wheel and tire combo was only 3.8 lbs (each) heavier than the stock wheels and tires. we did it this way so it wouldn't affect the mileage much at all. we lost about 2-5 mpg. which isn't to bad. as to where to get them... it shouldn't be to hard. i'm sure you can do a search for them online and even get the specs. i got them from the shop i sold. i obviously know the people i sold the shop to...
anyone know a good place to get a touring spoiler from? or should i just get an OEM one from the dealer?
sigma should have one in their Prius section...the Spoiler "B" Type is pretty close. Sigma Automotive – Toyota Hybrid Prius 2004 - 2009 OEM & JDM auto accessories
wow thats expensive. i can get a touring spoiler from the dealership cheaper than that. am i missing something though? is that a better spoiler for some reason?
hey thanks! i really like the rims to. i like them because they are full faced and it makes them look bigger. i would personally like 19's over 18's but my wife wanted 18's for an everyday driver. she picked the rims because she thinks they look kind of like flowers...
