I found a unit on Ebay that swears it will work with any unit,
and it will display on the screen !
Has anyone tried this? I want to get one but don't want to spend the money if it doesn't work. I'll have to have it installed by Circuit City too.

What I am curious about is if the DICE unit allows video on the screen too like the Coastal Tech unit does?

    Anyone...

It doesn't look like the DICE unit does that. I had the link for you but PriusChat won't let me post links yet. Go to diceelectronics dot com.

VAIS has a model that does: SL2Vi does ($350!), SL2i doesn't ($225). You can find them at vaistech dot com.

What I want to know is, when is Coastal Dave going to have the iPod Adapter back in stock (or ANOTHER one in stock)? I'd rather get his Lockpick plus the iPod adapter for the extended functionality of the Lockpick.

(FYI, I have no connection with any of the three aforementioned sites other than as a consumer.)

My first post! Thought I should mention my experience since all of the information I found on this site has helped me so much. My wife and I just bought a 2009 package 2. The salesman incorrectly told us it was satellite ready (which it's not- no "SAT" button), so I ordered the Toyota Ipod Interface kit from eBay ($214 shipped). When I went to install it, I realized that the "SAT" button was missing. Luckily for me I had read a lot of the posts on this site, so decided I would try installing it anyway. So although the radio didn't have a "SAT" button, there still was an open slot in the radio where the Toyota kit plugged in. As soon as I did that, I hit the AM button twice, and boom! the SAT option appeared with the iPod information displayed just as it's supposed to.

So just to reiterate, even if you have a package 2 Prius, you can easily install the Toyota iPod Interface kit and use it successfully. The MDF displays perfectly, and the steering wheel controls work beautifully as designed. I have a 2009, but assume it's the same for the last couple of years. Anyway- thanks everyone for helping me figure this out- and I only hope this post gives someone else the right info to get their iPod connected.

What unit were you installing? The SL2i? When you did the install does the radio beep or the little box that comes with the kit. I tried installing mine today in my 2004 Prius but nothing ever beeped. So... no iPod support yet.

For my model I think I have MD support and CD Changer support... neither of them worked. :( I am hoping a new SL2i-UP will resolve my woes.

I have a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid Limited with the nav system. The Sync system is incredible. It plugs into the car via a usb cable and it the loads all the songs into the nav. It displays everything. You can prepare paylists and it shows up on the nav. The new nav on the Fords are really impressive. Hopefully Toyota will catch up with this part.

Meh. I just want an iPod interface. Why waste time putting songs in multiple devices when you and just have one. AUX in with Pandora on my iPhone is the way to do these days. I have never seen a radio that has allowed me to play music from the Pandora iPhone app to the car radio over any iPod integration kits.

Please, somebody give me a sound system with a usb slot on the front so I can put a couple of MBs of music into it in the morning, and change the usb memory stick weekly. That should be easy, and cheaper than all these Ipod connector kits. Until then, I'm happy with my ipod holder in the cupholder (http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-TuneDok-Cupholder-iPod-White/dp/B0000ULJWS four bucks at Amazon), and a connection into the Aux.
Artist, album, track name all visible at a glance.

Hi! This is also my first post. I have a 2009, Pakage 6, and just installed the Ipod interface at the dealership along with the satellite receiver. It was $700, parts, and labor. The Ipod interface does display artist, track name, etc. I can press "sat" for satellite or press "aux" which brings up the Ipod as Disc 1 or Disc 2. You cannot be moving to select these options. You press "folder list" which only appears when you are stopped, and you can select playlists, artists, etc. I have no idea which part number it was, but it works great and so does the satellite radio!
