I made a very nice discovery yesterday. I changed the MFD color from Green to Orange. I did that before because I was tired of Green. And my first reaction was yeck again and about to switch back to Green. Then it hit me.... The orange blends in so well with the Birds Eye wood dash.... as if Toyota designed it that way. It makes sense because Lexus also uses the same MFD interface and they come with wood trims. I'll take a pic and post it soon. I really like this Orange (with black background) theme now!!

You should really go for it. I think it was well worth $141. After you see the pics of the Orange MFD theme, I think you'll pull the trigger. :)

Ok. As promised, here are pics of my dash with Orange MFD theme. BTW, 06 model came with only two option, Green and Orange. Pictures were taken this morning around 8 AM.

To jump in, again, as one of those who has rims, I am getting around 49.2 MPG now. BUT, I fear that may be lower soon, as it was sort of hot this past week.

I am afraid mine will go lower also. I havn't gone through winter yet as I bought it on March 06. Due to heavy AC usage, fully loaded passenger, and shorter trips during this weekend, my average is down to 48.3 MPG. So, I am experience extreme summer weather and I am guessing winter milage will hit as much or alittle more. If the mpg stay around 48, I'll be happy. :)

A big thanks to Theorist for pointing out my rear tire threads. They are unidirection and I will need to swap two rear wheels to correct them. Front threads are going the right direction so I got it right luckly as I've gone through heavy raining days on these tires. Performance under rain was excellent. I didn't experience any hydroplane nor noticable steering pull (unlike stock tires) to one side when going over puddle.

I am posting more pics to fulfill a request. I will get more interior shots tomorrow.

Notice the front tire with agressive V pattern going the correct direction.

The side front bumper Clean Pass (smaller) sticker camouflage as a side turn signal. I think it makes the car look better from the side.

Thank you. I got the 15 foot long one from http://www.brandsport.com/trmg-2115-c.html. It is long enough to cover the hatch edge and all four doors (full length top to bottom). I didn't like the look so I took off the rear and made the front shorter. If you are going to do just like mine, 10 foot long might be enough.

    Here's a curious question:

I have a 2005 Prius and the plastic area above the steering wheel and the glove box cover finish is not the pebble finish like in the 2006 and later models.

The finish is a smooth, finger-smudgey grey, and the "grey" really doesn't even match the rest of the dash. (It looks kind of like purplish-gray.) It accumulates tons of dust and smudges like crazy.

I found a leather add on for the glove box at Prius Hoods, but does anyone know where I can get a leather add on for above the steering wheel area?

Or, should I just contact my Toyota dealer and have him order the two parts and be done with it?

Your Prius is awesome!! My '09 Spectra Blue will be here next week. I'm coming out of an Escalade EXT with all the bling 'cause the gas is killing me. I knew if I looked hard enough I could find someone in this group who has done their car with wheels & other cool bling. Nice job & I will be adding wheels & interior detail as you have. Sweet!@

Be sure to post your progress also!

Have you seen my latest addition of chrome pillars and door handles? Everybody loved the chrome door handles but the pillars are either love it or hate it. On the road, I get really really long (head stick out of window turning head) stares.

    They could be thinking..
    1) Ewwww.. what the? look at that... ewww
    2) Awesome!! That's a futuristic cool looking car.

You know which one I belong to. LOL

BTW, I am averaging 52 MPG with these rims and UHP summer rubbers. Better than last year's 48 MPG.

Just curious, if you ever get a flat on that 17" wheel, can you use the stock 16" spare tire for emergency?

    Nice car :)

i've always liked the look of a prius on 17's.. :)

my spare works fine with my 17" tires... because my 17's are the same outside diameter as my stock wheels. in comparison.. the spare is always a small spare.

Thanks V8. I brought the Scion tc rims and was reluctant to put them on for this reason. I drove 140 miles a day to work and don't want to get stuck with a flat and can't use the stock spare.

I haven't try putting in my stock 15" rim in the spare compartment.

I cracked one of my tire after hitting a big pot hole a year ago. I put on the donut spare and it was with an orange steel rim. What an embarrassment but I made it back home. :)
