I am planning on buying an '09 from a private person who is selling a '09 with 100 miles on it for $500 less than MRSP. He was able to get the package he wants from another dealer as his "number" came up there.
I am currently on a couple wait lists since July 9th with probably another 6 week wait at the minimum. This is a package 3 and I was on the list for a package 2 and was quoted MRSP for it. I would be paying a little more but would be getting more.
Are there any downsides of this? Will the warranty still be the same etc? Can anyone think of a reason to not so this?

There is no problem at all. All factory warranties transfer.

Sounds like a good opportunity. Might just be worth running a car fax and getting a dealer to print a service history just to make sure there is no funny business.

Doesn't sound bad, as others have said just check it out with the dealership/carfax and go for it if you can swing the slightly higher cost.

This happened between evening commute, ironing clothes and watching the Cubbies! I'm on it now.

True, however Oregon doesn't have sales tax.

I guess I dont need to know cons now because I now have a 2009 Mg Gray package 3 in my driveway! Hurray! I got it with 100 miles on it and $500 below MRSP.
I got it on Craigs list because the seller now is able to get his package 5 that he wants. I am so excited!

I am now updated! 3 days and I couldn't be happier. And I have learned so much from this site! Thanks. The car seems to be all it was promised. And I saved $500. I am glad I got the bluetooth. It just might save my live.
