Purposely defacing someone's private property is wrong no matter what. I voted fine and jail time.

You need the Vincent Vega, "it would have been worth him doing it if I could have only been there!"

Same thing that happens to any other vandal.
I would hope that means full restitution (for the damage), a fine and some jail time. Not sure what the normal punishment is though.

I agree. Even if it is a Fuel Sucking Pig(FSP), it's still someone else's property and it was wrong.

In all honesty, I dont think we should throw someone in jail for something like this on his first offense.

They'll probably just make him pay for the damage and a sum of money on top of it for " emotional damages"

Its not worth the justice systems money to hold a trial for this or pay to keep him in jail.

As vehicles replaced horses and horse thieves were hung or whipped then hanging or whipping should do nicely. Of course this is only after the vandal makes full restitution for the damage. Yes I consider the damaging of a persons car on the same level of seriousness as theft, the driver will be without his vehicle while it is being repaired.

Now about how a school student is driving a hummer, someone needs to hang for that as well.

I had to vote "I could not serve on the jury" because I am excused from jury duty for the rest of my life because I work in an enforcement job.

How about restitution, pay court costs and 80 hours of community service (picking up trash and dog poop at the local parks)?

Hummers are evil. The guy should get a certificate of appreciation from the community. Now, if he'd towed it to a crusher I'd recommend him for a medal.

Yeah, I know people will come down on me: How dare I advocate damage to private property? How would I feel if someone keyed my car because they don't like Xebras or Priuses? Well, a homeless guy got angry at me once and threw paint on my car. A cop tried to get me to press charges. I declined.

A Hummer is the epitome of disrespect for the environment and the other people on the road. It is a statement that the owner does not give a damn about wasting a dwindling natural resource and fueling global warming. It is too wide for our streets and is therefore dangerous. Its only purpose is so the owner can pretend he's G.I. Joe.

No sympathy here for the Hummer owner.

And if the kid's parents bought him the Hummer, they definitely need to have their tax rates at least doubled.

I don't think it should make a difference what kind of vehicle it is. It's vandalism, plain and simple, for which the owner should be fully reimbursed. The guy's gonna have his name and address published anytime now, and he'll have to go in to hiding to get away from all the big trucks ripping up his lawn in the wee hours. That's probably punishment enough.

Very cool, I like that a lot...VORP along with restitution I would be satisfied with that result if it were my vehicle.

Barring that option I think the restitution, fine and community service option would be my next choice...depending upon circumstances maybe no fine (ie. otherwise good kid, no history of problems, remorseful, parents that are just as pissed as me and will keep the kid reined in, etc.)

5 minutes? How long odes it take to kick a punk kid in the nads?

Oh yeah, a few times in the side while he's down. I forgot.

That is why I voted "I could not serve on the jury". Because if I caught someone vandalizing my car, I would beat the crap out of them if possible.

Also, Daniel, even though you don't like Hummers it doesn't give anyone the right to vandalize them. It is someone else's property and there is no law against a high school kid or anyone else owning one.

A couple of months ago, I was interviewed by the local paper (Sacramento Bee) about why I liked my Prius. The article was posted online. Several derogatory comments were posted, including one individual who said that he thought (probably his only thought) that Prius were ugly, so he keyed them whenever he could.

Someone who would key a Hummer is just as f*cked up as someone who would key a Prius.
