Their population has grown becasue they can snuggle up to the pipeline for heat in the winter just as underwater drilling provides great artificial reefs. Don't lie about it luddites.
Polar Bears often find sustinance in our dumpsters. If we send people up there to drill the workers leftovers will help the PB population that is suffering from the latest natural cyclical warming of the earth. They can move to land for food rather than swimming from iceberg to iceberg.
How DARE YOU say this is a natural cyclical warming event you non believer. It's all mans fault. Every thing political is the Reps fault. Down with the man. Free love brother the hell with STD. You need not worry, the blow will be on Barry.
A follower of Ned Ludd, the supposed leader of the Weaver's Revolt in England around 1811, I think. Their concern was that the new invented power loom would put them on the street. Some looms were sabotaged and some folks hung for it. It is often used as a label for someone who is a traditionalist or anti-technology. Seems that it's not the right word for this instance.
What's the word for people who think technology will solve all our problems, and that we don't need nature?
Wish I could say it was a NeoConservative, but they don't like technology, they want people to live like the Amish.
Hi bac, Luddite is a term for a person who is irrationally afraid of new technology. It stems from an incident in the 1800's in Ludington (?) England. Manual coal miners protested new mining equipment (converyor belts?) because they feared they would loose their jobs. In the end, the reduced cost of coal due to the new mining technology expanded coal demand, and many many more miners were needed.
First, the concept of The caribou love the pipelines is on its face ridiculous. Caribou may live with the pipelines, but they have no choice in the matter. Both answers are inaccurate. Look it up: Luddite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
