I like the dash "in pieces" picture. Not knowing what your dash looked like before I too am curious about the 'light' in the dash and does it come with an EV switch. I hope so since my base has no Cruise Control. Have fun on the drive home. I should have some news on mine tomorrow :D

Hell if I knew this was going down I would have overnighted MY mobile broadband and webcam to him if he promised to point it at his MFD for the trip home!

    I'm back home. :D

No data on the MPG because the breaker tripped some time last night when they was charging the pack. I did get about 10 miles of 100+ mpg on the highway for a total of about 70mpg for that 10 or so miles.

There is two small issues with the screen when the battery is on. I will go into detail when I write things up.

I did not get the welcome package today but it should be in the mail and I should get it here in a week or two. I think they provide a power cord according to the manual. I really haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

I'm pretty busy this week but I will try to get part of my write up posted in the next day or two. I have to work tomorrow and it will be my first commute with the pack. I will make a quick update on my trip MPG. Then Friday I think I will be entering my car in a local car show if it don't rain. I work Saturday and Sunday evening. Then Monday and Tuesday I'm off. Monday or Tuesday I would like to do a full EV only test of the pack. Just depends on if it rains.

Thats all for now. I have to go out and plug in my car. :D :p

    Thanks Jay,

The manual is printed and I'm going to read it tonight. Don't bother printing the manual. The information contained can be easily read in front of the computer. It is pretty light reading. The only thing that stood out, was not to carry an excessive amount of liquid in the hatch.

Thanks for continuing to send info our way. I know how excited I am to read about your PHEV; you must be through the roof!

I'm putting out the invitation right now for all the people with Hymotion PHEVs to join us at next year at Hybridfest 2009 in Madison, WI. Third weekend in July. (17, 18, 19) It'd be great to be able to hear some testimonials and experiences from people who have had their PHEVs for a while.

    Jay,
Thanks for the manual. informative enough that it answered a few questions(No EV switch :|). Now I have to put a GFCI circuit in my garage. It also looks like to need to 'turn on' the L5 everytime you turn the car on. I also like the description of how the brake lights will function during charge. Might not be great for the neighbor who can see in that garage window.
Two questions, which breaker tripped. The L5 or the circuit at the garage? Also how long (distance) is your commute. Mine is ~23miles.
    Thank You again.
    Chris

I updated my first post with a quick write up of the install. I still need to get a finished install pic which I will got tomorrow when I get to the car show.

I will give you a quick update on my commute MPG. This first run I did without using the EV button and I tried to drive "normal" and drive the speed limit when possible. The only thing I did to improve MPG was to use my EBH. On my way to work my scan gauge showed 114MPG. :D On my way back home it showed 118MPG. :D According to my Watts Up? .net meter last night the watt hour usage for the charge was 5930.5Wh and it was still sucking a few watts when I left for work. I will post a graph when I get part two of my post ready.

Tomorrow I will try to go into full hypermiler mode and use all the tricks I can pull out to see what I can get.

Thats all for now. I still have a tone of work to do.

    Thanks for the update.

I'm looking forward to hear more about the energy monitor screen issue with the battery in the ON position. Maybe another switch with momentary and latching contacts would be a simple solution to this issue for Hymotion.

    Thanks Jay,

The write up seems great so far. I'm not sure I will like the flicker, but I will get used to it.

The reason for the flicker of the SOC is because Hymotion is spoofing the CAN packets or something and the Prius is trying to counter the spoof with an update. Then the Hymotion battery tries to counter with another spoof. That is how I understand it.

Can you tell us the following (If you havent' already done so). :p

    * How much does the unit cost (before installation and after)?

    * Where can you purchase the unit?
