My 08 Package 2 was totaled by a DUI driver being chased by the police. T-boned me doing 50 mph on a city street. Car looks totaled; rear wheel hanging off, crumpled rear end. I am okay, except for a few cuts and bruises. It's amazing how well this car did. I am lucky. Now what? Anyone have experience with this? Will I get KBB of the car which will be too low to buy again? Will I get "replacement value?" I got such a good deal on this car in November--$22,300 plus $1200 for leather--and am worried that will be impossible to get now. Also wondering if I can rent a car until the 2009s are out. I haven't been keeping up with the new cars and don't know when the 09s are to be released and what improvements there might be. Any help is appreciated. I will post photos after I see the car at the impound. Sad, sad day
Re: My 08 Prius was totaled; what next? Sorry to hear,be sure you get medical attention after the fact. Being T-Boned is rough stuff. You should do OK insurance wise. There is a wealth of great info here concerning your situation.
Hey Danny-can you help our Troll find a new playground? Hey-he changed his response from buy a real car to sorry to hear that. What's up with that?
Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad to hear that you are doing ok. I almost got T-boned 2 months after I purchased my car on a wet slippery road by a Honda Accord driver that was not paying attention that the traffic light on his side is already red. Hope you can replace your car soon. Regards.
The current market value is more than MSRP for a new one. Pull all the adds for the used Priuses and show you're insurance company. Get on the waiting list for a new one at MSRP at an honest dealership and drive something else in the meantime. Your insurance company should give you market value which means you'll have money left over after buying a new one.
