Just wondering is anyone sorry they bought a Prius? Mine is supposed to be in next week & frankly some of the post on here are scaring the you know what out of me. During my test drive I loved the way it drove, the comfortable seats, the pkg. 6, the fuel economy vs. 14 mpg I'm getting now, etc. But some of the posts are scarry! Help! Am I going to be :D or :(. I know only I can really answer that, but in all honesty, are any of you wishing you had never bought one?

Hell, I was sorry I didn't buy mine sooner. I bought mine in September '07 when the tax credit had dropped down to a paltry $750. It used to be $3,150 or something like that. :p (Then again, I count my blessings because now the credit is $0!)

I am extremely happy with my Prius. I bought one thinking just about the only cool thing it has is the fuel economy. I was wrong! The technology in the car is just amazing, everything from the simplicity of the Power Split Device transmission to the touch screen to regenerative braking.

I think you will be :D too.

If it makes you feel any better.... I liked my wife's '08 so much that she got tired of me always wrangling it out of her hands so I got myself one. That's a pretty good endorsement. There certainly is imperfection and surely impermanence about anything in the world of form but this is the best car I've ever owned and I have had a lot of them. My wife and i disagree on a lot of things but one of the things we agree on is 'that these cars rock big time'. You'll love it once you get your hands on it. If you don't, you'll have no problems selling it.

    Best of luck -

I'm sorry some of the threads are scaring you... it is true that the vast majority of owners are not posting here that they are happy... it's just the rare few that have an issue that they want to get some info about.

The Prius has the highest owner satisfaction, the lowest overall costs, lowest cost of ownership, excellent safety ratings, and is the easiest thing to drive, even if you totally ignore the MPG game!

Also has a really tight turning ratio, is cute as a bug's ear, and holds a lot of gear.

I would not be in the least interested in giving mine up!!! It's been a great car, for over a year, in all sorts of weather/driving conditions.

    I'm sure you'll love it. :)

    I'm not sorry at all.

I just regret not test driving the Standard Prius and the Touring Prius. Then I would have known that I would have preferred the Touring Prius.

I'm generally happy with my Prius except 2 things that disappoint me
    1) I make my purchase 3 days too early and miss-out $1000 manufacture promo (june) in Canada.... Toyota didn't want to honor it

    2) I brought the Touring Model with P195/55 R16 tires....turns out it is a odd size that not many manufacture make them nor the shops carry that size.

This week someone drill a Nail on 1 of the tire (properly by a Prius hater) it was beyond repair. With very little alternatives ....I have to wait for 5+ week local backorder and ends-up special order it from East Coast.

    Not me.

I'm sorry that my crystal ball is broken, so I can't foresee the whole :D vs. thing for you, but if I had to guess it'll be :D. That seems to be how it works out for the vast majority of people, but as always YMMV.

It strikes me that many of the people who have had various misfortunes with their cars are still happy that they bought the car and that many comment that they'll get another (if they were unfortunate enough to have "lost" the car.)

I think if you look more closely, you'll find alot of positive stuff out there in addition to all the negative stuff.

Absolutely not! In fact we bought our first in 2005 and have been so hooked that we just bought our 2nd Prius about 2 weeks ago.

You will love the car. I promise you.

The more I drive this car the more I like it. I'm constantly surprised how quiet and smooth riding it is. We are constantly getting 48-52mpg without trying very hard. I laugh at adds on TV for cars that are "high mileage" that get 28 or 32mpg. I expect to have this 2008 for many years but will be looking for anything that is better, but better will have to include improved mileage.

The Prius synergy drive is brilliant, the intelligent use of the electric motor/battery system to assist the high efficiency ICE coupled with the ability to fully shut down the ICE when not needed are all things that most cars should have.

We are on vacation and have driven California highway 1 and Oregon 101 for just over 1,000 miles so far and are averaging over 50mpg. I love this car.

I am disappointed that it took me several years to decide to buy my first Prius. My college buddy bought himself one of the very first Prius that was sold in the US. To date, he has logged over 200K miles and still running.

Love my Prius better...51 mpg on my last tank.

    Sorry? nup!
I'm also considering a second Prius to become a 2 Prius family. If I could afford it I'd get a third for my son.
I don't believe in having more than 1 of a type of car in the household to allow versatility within the fleet but the Prius changes that by being so versatile, and I have another occasional use car for towing.

only a little bit. like for not being allowed in the carpool lanes in california, because they are sold out of stickers, and not having intelligent parking assist, but nothing making
me want to sell it .

my cool downtown san jose parking sticker kinda makes up for the lack of car pool privileges, all i gotta do is hang out in downtown san jose and thats like $15 i don't have to pay in parking fees. and a majority of prius owners are kicked out of the downtown san jose parking program, because you had to buy the car in san jose

I picked mine up last December and am still looking for the down side of Prius ownership. I've owned many new cars over the years. Everything from 400+ horsepower muscle cars to compacts. I can say without reservation that the Prius is the best. And it just seems to get better every day. Stop worrying and enjoy the experience. Happy motoring.

    Yep, I'm sorry I didn't buy a Prius 2 1/2 years ago.

The only debate now whether (or not) to purchase is should you wait for the next gen Prius which will likely be available this time next year. Also, few will argue that current Prius prices are inflated with some paying $2000 over MSRP versus paying below invoice only 4 or 5 months ago. Possibly waiting a few more months for the Prius purchase mania to fade may save you a few thousand. Then again, maybe gas prices will go back up (not that prices are really down much recently) or a few spot shortages (gas lines) will pop up, and then all bets are off as to what a new Prius will cost you. Buying a Prius today seems almost like purchasing or speculating on oil futures. Alternatively, you could get something like a Corolla and still significantly improve your mileage - especially if you drive mostly highway - as well as spend almost $10K less on the car itself which most are unlikely to recover in fuel savings if you purchase a Corolla.
