Ready to get Sirius, what do I need???

    OK, I have an '07 package 6 Prius. It seems like there are a lot of different products floating around the internet. Priuschat offers a kit for $265. I found a SC-C1 & TOY-SC1 combo on ebay for $130 shipped. Then on www.metrotpn.com I see a Sirius kit for $165 and a $85 "fit" kit. On TssRadio.com I see SC-C1 & TOY-SC1 combo for about $150. Then on authentictoyota.com they have a recveiver and "fit" kit for $270.

    So obviously I've done some searching around for a good deal and the different products. I know some of you prius chatters have experience with these installs. So maybe you can give me a better idea of what products I need and differentiate the different products I listed above.

    Buy the radio for $265, it installs under the rear passenger seat, run the lines up the right side wiring channel, plug into he back of the factory radio.
    Call Sirius, pay money!
    Enjoy!

    Simple!!

    Also search the threads, this has been discussed many times around here!!!

    I have read many a threads in here and it seems to be all the same answer. I was just wondering if anyone had pictures? Or an instruction manual? Should I follow most of the XM instruction manual? or just take it to X Company and have them install it for $50-$75. So what exactly is the Prius Chat part? It isn't a SC-C1 & TOY-SC1 combo right? Do I get better integration with the PriusChat shop kit? Some threads have said it was last years Sirius solution...

    Searches are not always effective for things like this because people put their "mods" in their signatures. When I searched on XM Radio I got over 500 threads, only a few of which yielded anything useful. The search engine can be rather frustrating. :(

    Well OK I will do a search for you .... oh look here are 2 excellent articles on XM installation. I assume the Sirius is same type of package so installation should be the same. I used both guides, and they are wonderfully written!!!

    The first is the factory install document, the second is one of the best installs I have seen. Nice job EDDIE!!! Shows how to rip into the dash correctly so you can but it all back together so it still looks sweet!

    Read these docs!!!

    I went with the TOY-SC1 and SC-VDOC1 combo as it allows me to take my tuner (Starmate 4) in the house or with me in a rental car (I travel a good bit) while it still gives me MFD control in my 04 prius. In total, the tuner was $80 and the TOY-SCI and SC-VDOC1 from crutchfield was about $135 with free shipping and a $20 off coupon code (3A825 may still work, if not search around for the lastest discount from them). I ran the wires to the glove box for the tuner dock and everything looks good. Plus, I love the portable nature of my sirius rather than buy antother radio and pay for an additional subscription fee.

    Anyone wanting a cheap and easy non visable sat radio get the TOY-SC1 and SCC1 kit. Other than the roof antenna (which can be hidden in the spoiler) you cannot see this unit and it runs via the mfd. Tokk one hour to install the entire kit and I am not very handy.

    Help. Just went to Crutchfiel and they say the TOY-SC1 is incompatible with the JBL stereo. I was looking at a Stilleto and wanted to lnow if all I need i the SC-VDOC1?

    Trust me, they told me that too, I trusted what I read here and found out that Crutchfield was wrong. It works perfectly in my car. Just a word of caution though, if you buy a Stiletto, get the Stiletto 2 as the 100 is incompatible with the TOY-SC1 / SC-VDOC1 setup. I have the TOY-SC1 / SC-VDOC1 in both my SO's Scion tC and my 2008 Prius (w/ JBL) and they both work with the Stiletto 2 and my Sportster 5. Hope this helps.

    Thanx yeah I am leaning toward stiletto for the prius I use a sportster for my highlander. Any pics on final install wife is concerned what its going to look like?
