OK, I think it's now obvious that a poll should be set up on this. New Honda Hybrid? Or next generation Prius?

I personally think it's more than obvious that it's a Honda under development. Even the auto magazine people confirm it's a Honda.

    Hill,

If you look carefully at the 350# chrome piece under the bumper that
wraps down to become a skid plate, on the right hand side there's a small
circular opening. I'll bet that's the flush mount plug-in for the PHEV plug.

It as also striking how similar it's shape is to the GEN II Prius or the
possible Honda Hybrid Hindsight, H3 for short. (Oops, that's already in use
as a trademark by... Well, I'l be, by GM. I'm begining to think conspiracy
here.) No, on second look, it has all the aerodynamic subtlety of a cinder
    block.

Perhaps they'll call it the BackSight, going back to a simpler time. I'm sure
Elvis would approve, after all he sang, "Return to Cinder..." Clearly, Elvis
was way before his time, and forsaw these times of gathering darkness.

Eight (8) lugs on those wheels! Wow!
Compared to 5 on my Prius.
Compared to 4 on the spy photos.

I think that's a Toyota (not a Honda) probably next gen Prius.

My reasoning comes from the rear wiper. It is on the driver's side like the current Prius. All (that I am aware of) Honda hatchback has the rear wiper on the passenger side. I know this because I used to own a Celica and familiar with Integra -- both cars being hatchbacks had rear wipers on the opposite sides of each other.

The shot below shows that the car is US spec (driver on the correct side).

And this shot shows the rear wiper on the driver side.

I think this is the next gen Prius disguised as a Honda by misleading with the buldge of the logo and putting on the Fit rims.

Ok, last gen (discontinued) Honda Insight also had the rear wiper on the passenger side. Why would next gen Insight have it on the driver side? It does not make sense.

The way I see, it is a Toyota.

See which side the rear wiperblade is on.

it's a honda guys. the covered emblem is not wide like the toyota emblem.. it looks more like a round-edged square than an oval..

the test mule has the 2009 fit's wheel:

its headlights look like those from a JDM Honda Odyssey, which has blue lenses from the factory

the test mule also has bracketless windshield wipers which all new honda model use nowadays.. my 2008 prius still use those with brackets.. i dont know if toyota will change it in 2009 so i could be wrong about this one..

it looks awfully similar to the prius but its shape also looks like a FCX clarity..

    i'm sure its a honda.

An earlier post said this vehicle didn't have the Prius washer fluid nozzle on the back. It looks like it has the nozzle and someone tried to make it look different by sticking an antenna on top...

I want to change my poll idea to a "I told you so it was a Honda" thread.

If I have to eat crow, I'll take it with a hollandaise sauce, but I doubt I'll ever have to order.

Searching the license plate picks up the following sightings:

10/03 on an Acura TL tester:
Have you seen the new '04 Acura TL? - G35Driver

12/07 on a possible Honda Accord tester:
    2008 Honda Accord - CarSpyShots

According to this thread 3421 is a standard test plate identifier for Honda:
The Temple of VTEC - Honda and Acura Enthusiasts Online Forums > 2004 TL Undisguised Photos > > Re: License Plate!

To be fair, we should mention that Honda has been building Kammbacks for much longer than Toyota ;)

That said, it is surprising just how similar the overall shape of the new Honda is. It may end up looking more like the Prius than the new Prius

I'm with a previous poster. They're developing a common platform to share between companies and deliver a death blow to GM. :flypig:

    It's a Honda, people. :deadhorse:
