Hi--just a few questions for a newbie like me... 1. Is there an accessory mode that does not turn the engine on? How do I put it into that mode only? 2. My "monitor" in the center of the screen automatically reverts by default back to the consumption screen. How do I get it to stay on the screen that I am on, and not immediately revert back to the consumption screen? Thanks for your help.
1. With your foot OFF the brake, press the power button. 2. Touch "Information" -- Touch "Screen Setting" -- Set "Automatic Transition from Audio/Air Conditioner etc." to OFF It's on p. 194 of my 2008 manual. The manual is an organizational mess, so I don't blame you for not being able to find it. The only thing worse is the NAV manual.
With your foot off the brake, you can cycle through three modes by repeatedly pressing the POWER button: 1. ACC-ON, where the MFD lights up and you can play the stereo. 2. IG-ON, where the instrument panel lights come on. It is not recommended that you leave the car in this state for any period of time as the 12V auxiliary battery is under heavy load. 3. IG-OFF, where the car is powered off.
As they wrote, you can do it. But why do you want to? It costs very little to leave the car ON, and that prevents the very real possibility of killing the battery (more than one poster has reported killing their battery by leaving the car in ACC).
