The same one that comes with the Xd. Is this a mistake or is Toyota offering true ipod integration with the '09 like they do with the Xd?
are u sure thats an ipod interface cable? a DICE integration kit cost around $150 for the prius... about time.. a factory ipod interface would be nice.. ipod has become an essential..
well then mr smart stuff why don't you tell us exactly what you meant then? I bet you're a young person.
I thought I was already pretty clear. Page 9 of the brochure shows the same integration cable that the Xd has. This cable allows you to control your ipod and browse your albums, songs, playlists, etc from your head unit and steering wheel. When you plug the cable into an ipod connected to a Scion, the ipod displays the Scion graphic. Was at the dealer yesterday and tried out my ipod. My ipod displayed a custom graphi scion logo when I plugged it in and the ipod menus were visible on the xd pioneer head unit.
that actually came out almost 1 and a half years ago by toyota, its just probably the first time toyota is advertising it?
Don't confuse Scion with Toyota, young one. Scions come with all the cool stuff, incl. the Pioneer setup with iPod integration. You just bought a cable. Toyotas need the cable AND the integration unit, hence the higher price.
For what it's worth, the Lexus 400h has a "true" IPOD interface cable. You select SAT and the screen provides a "VAIS-like" interface to the IPOD. Unfortunately, I don't think you can also use the IPOD controls, but there could be a setting to do so. No reason (other than $) than Toyota couldn't use this same system on the Prius.
Really? Cause I've seen many RXh owners getting the VAIS-unit to get iPod control. Did you buy new or used?
I just saw a friend's new '08 Rxh. I looked in the glove compartment and there it was, an IPOD cable. They said it came that way. It looked like factory stuff. The website for Lexus does say: Interface kit for iPod® as an option ($299). I plugged my IPOD in and it worked. --WJP
well there you go, it's a $299 option (not that VAIS is any cheaper). Sorka was asking if it was standard.
Give the guy a break guys, he's not saying he has the interface, he's just saying he saw it in the brochure. The answer is yes, Toyota/Lexus has an iPod kit now, I drove a new Lexus GS350 a few weeks ago that had it. Its a dealer add on kit like the XM or Sirius kits. The Lexus dealer wanted $900 for it on top of $900 for the Sirius kit the car also had which is a complete joke, I'm sure pricing depends on the dealer. The kit works really well.
