I was both disappointed and inspired by Tdoff1's rant in "New Rule for All Prius Owners" - that Prius owners are not acknowledging waves! I think that's a shame, especially when you realize that we are a unique lot, definitely in the minority, have chosen to DO something about a critical national issue, have even received some ridicule because of it ... etc. etc. (Or maybe we're just reasonably smart folks who saw this gas price thing coming and it was a "duh" decision.) My response to "Tdoff1" was that we need a unique wave that acknowledges who we are. I asked in the above noted thread for suggestions. "phoskins" suggested a "V" for victory over high gas prices. "Prius Prime" supports the "V" wave. Please note that the "V" also symbolizes "peace" - peace with our planet that I think Prius owners certainly support. Please pass along your support of the "V," or make another suggestion - we're an open minded crowd. eace:
I don't think a two-handed V eace: wave would be very safe in a Prius. Maybe a one-handed version is better.
..depends which way your hand's facing when you make that V sign as to the likely response you're going to get..
I find that most Prii owners do not know about this site! I find that disturbing. Wonder what can be done about that?
I wouldnt want to do it only based on the idea that people already think we believe we are "better" than them, and something like this might reinforce the negative stereotype
Why don't we do something for the people who use their bike to go to work, or those who use the mass transit system... they make a bigger difference than we do. It would be cool if instead of starting a trend to self-recognize Prius owners, we instead started a trend that recognize those who do even better than us.
Most Prius owners I pull up next to have their nose in the air and quickly look the other way to avoid eye contact. I like my car, but the only thing I like about owning it is the $ in my pocket. Prius owners are giving the car a negative image. If any American car co comes up with something that can average 40 MPG I will trade it in. Maybe even a VW diesel. Everyone assumes if you drive a Prius your'e a liberal, tree hugging, Al Gore loving, Obama or Hillary nice person kisser. You are not saving the world. All you are saving is $.
i would say the average age of a prius driver around here is probably 60+. (my guess is that they don't use the Internet, much less PC) There's a lot of old people that live out here and most of us young'uns are driving either Civics or big trucks. I've yet to see another Prius driver under 40 'round these parts.
I'll continue to give the "Thumbs-up" to other Prius Drivers. I get a positive reaction about hald the time - no negative reactions yet.
Don't hold back; tell us how you REALLY feel! Liberal -yep tree hugging - sigh... they never hug back Al Gore loving - ooh, he's such a stud Obama or Hillary nice person kisser - security won't let me get close enough to the asses in question to simply touch, let alone kiss... I never thought I was saving the world, just money, but I love everything about my Prius. I smile or wave at other Prius drivers, and the only reason my nose is in the air is because I'm damn short, and have to look up to see! Eat a few Valium...
