Want to "improve" the grounding on your Prius?
Remove rear hatch floor.
Remove right side cover over battery.
Check battery -ve post clamp for tightness.
Check bolt on -ve battery cable that goes back to the chassis/body for tightness.
DO NOT overtighten either bolt.

Cost - 10 min of your time.

[IMG] Exhaust Grounding System
"Sun Auto now offers specialized earthing straps to properly ground your exhaust system to the chasis. Based on research & development of the HGS, the new Exhaust Earth is designed to maximize exhaust efficiency by minimizing static electricity that obstructs exhaust flow inside the muffler. Benefits include: Increased torque response / reduced static electricity in exhaust / reduce vibration noise from exhaust / improve corrosion resistant of muffler. Use w/ HGS for cumulative performance enhancement!

Installation: Each kit comes with 2 ground straps; one is connected from the exhaust where the muffler bolts on the midpipe to the chassis, and the other is connected from the exhaust where the midpipe bolts on the cat. converter to the chassis. If possible, best results will be had if any paint/debris is scraped where the terminals connect for a solid metal-to-metal contact."

So let me get this straight, there is some kind of static cling inside my muffler that won't let the gas out?!? Would some of those drier sheets help? If only the factory could do something to provide a solid connection between the ICE and the exhaust, or if some kind of conductive material ran between the exhaust and the body. Someday maybe...

unfortunately, the guy behind sigmaauto should know better, and
he's on the forums occasionally. But I guess his job is to
sell stuff.

This is called conventional current flow. All electrical engineers draw current flowing from positive to negative, unless we are talking about semiconductors with major and minor carriers or some form of bizarre gas discharge.

If your main power connections are corroded slightly or just loose, it is easy to do a voltage drop test with a multimeter to determine where the extra resistance is located. Just cleaning and tightening the connections will usually
restore good current flow. Don't waste your money on fancy wire. The oem cables do their job quite well unless there is a fault at the connections.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but it beats starting a new one. I actually joined this site to see member's takes on products such as these.

Sun Automobile U.S.A.,Inc

I run a small performance shop that focuses on Mercedes cars and we needed to purchase some items from this company for a battery relocation kit. I also have an 02 Prius. I was gonna purchase some of their gas saving products to try them out and see if it really does make a difference. The site and information looks really wild, but in theory some of the things may work.

Anyway, I was seeing if there would be interest and knowing the results. If they are good I can get more at wholesale for whoever wants them.

I'll post back when the parts are in.

:welcome: Welcome to PriusChat, Anthony!
I think most of us are interested in validated benefits, but there is so much snake oil sloshing around I wouldn't buy most stuff until it was proven. If all the crap out there was as good as it claims, wouldn't the auto makers be using it to try to get an edge by building it in?

Let us know what works for you!

Please follow through on this. I installed a grounding kit on my 300ZX. It did smooth out the stumbly idle that a lot of these cars experience. Curious to see what, if anythng, the dyno indicates this did for your Prius.

I didn't plan on dynoing the car as I don't think any of us care how much power we're adding. I was going to do a comparison of average gas mileage for each mod. Each reading will be taken at the 500 mile mark and then one mod added at a time.

I would like to do a larger amount of driving for each test, but the test would go on for months if I waited for that.

You can DIY your own grounding kit. The cost will be less than buying a kit. I did my own DIY grounding kit for my Evo 8. The grounding kit did improve the car idling and responses.
The other day, I was checking the engine bay and I look at some ground cable on the Prius. I think I will try to DIY my own grounding kit and see if there is any improvement. To DIY your own kit, just need to purchase some 0/4 gauge power cable and terminal. Measure the length, cut the cable and crimp the terminal.

Where would the extra ground wires even go or connect to since the battery is in the trunk?
