I thought that was "Purse Envy" haha I saw a license plate that said "TileIt" and right away one glanced at it and thought it was toilet. Hmmm.
toilet... isnt that slang for part time job? toiling would be slang for full time job... then again... maybe not!!
John Muir drove Volkswagens. (For non-VW nuts, an aerospace engineer-turned-hippie in Santa Fe, and a bona fide relative of Naturalist John Muir, also with the name John Muir, wrote a VW Bible called "How To Keep Your Volkswagen ALIVE, A Step By Step Manual For the COMPLEAT Idiot" in the late 1960s) BTW, this book was the uncredited inspiration for the "Dummies Guide To..." series of plain-talk tech books.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(KTPhil\";p=\"66936)</div> That book is a classic. The illustrations are beautiful, and it's really well written. He goes to great pains to explain how everything in a VW works, to further motivate the whys of the various precedures. At the beginning of the book (and keep in mind, this is an auto repair manual) there's a big long paragraph on love, and it goes on about how before everything you must love. You must love your car and you must love your tools, and you must love even when you bust a knuckle getting the valve cover off. Great stuff. Later on, he describes a way of using a chisel to remove the infamous 36mm gland nut if you "don't have enough bread to buy a 36mm socket." Basically you put the chisel on the corner of the nut and hammer it off, but as he puts it "make yourself a good self and whack the hell out of it." It is the standard that all technical manuals should aspire to. I don't have any more VWs but I kept that book.

"That book is a classic. The illustrations are beautiful, and it's really well written." Yes it is, and there is a story behind it. he took it to 17 publishers, all of whom rejected it. So he started his own publishing business in Santa Fe, and sold over two million copies! He got me into car repair, and that "love" chapter is right up there with the "how to buy" chapter for karmic inspiration. His premise is that your ar is ALIVE, and you need to talk, listen, relate, and LOVE to succeed with it. A couple of quotes (and there are many): "Doing the valves, timing and minor maintenance on your own car will not only change your relationship with your transportation but will also change your relationship with yourself" "Come to kindly terms with your nice person for it bears you."
Currently mine is "GIDIEUP" since I had a Mustang Cobra before. I'm thinking about getting, "DUALPWR" or "SP8SHIP"
