After a couple hours of tinkering this evening, here's what I've done:
    - I've posted the pictures I took. If you took pictures, please email them to [email protected]
    - I played with the MemberMap icon feature. Right now, the people I've mapped have little Prius icons. I need to get a classic icon, Insight icon, a Civic, and a Camry for Marc. Additionally, I'm not sure what to do for non-hybrid members. I'm planning on leaving "locations of interest" as the red markers. When you click on them, their names appear. This way, when we have a meeting, you would be able to look at the map and find where it is.

    Marc,
My wife says the same thing about me. That's all I think about. I don't know what the Plug-in she's talking about?!!

    Hi all,

Spring break is finally here for us & I had time to revisit this board. Alas, I just missed the last meeting ::sigh::.

It would be nice if I checked this forum more often & if all previous attendees (I've been to two meetings so far) were notified when a meeting was coming up via email.

    Just a suggestion.

    Just and idea...
You can change the settings in this forum so that you automatically receive an email, notifying you of any posts to the Chicago forum. I do this for the several forums and helps me stay on top of things.
Or if your interested in helping the group out and have some organizational skills, you could email Tony and volunteer your time to help to keep the members up to date. I know the group can always use a few more hands to lighten the load.

I'll also send an email and a PM, Starfall.

I try to plan the meetings and other events in advance and put them on the Events page of the Chicago Prius group website.

Additionally, if you reply to my PM and/or email with approximate Long/Lat coordinates, I'll add you to the Member Map. Or just give me your address (or approx).

Merci, Tony - message received, message sent. "Y muchas gracias" for the website. And thanks EricBecky as well - good suggestion.

Big "mea culpa" (and I don't even know/speak Latin) on my part about not keeping up with this group. I'm afraid that working in a HS is a full time endeavor which takes up (obviously) quite a bit of my time. I definitely hope to make the next meeting in June - indeed, am really looking forward to it. :)

Just saying hello! I'm in the Darien/Downers Grove area - I've had my Prius for about a week. Wasn't thrilled with the dealer, but I love the car! Glad to have some other Prius peeps to chat with.

    Take care,

    Sarah

Are there actually events or places where Prius members gather periodically in Chicago?

Just look in the post above yours (my post) and click on the link for the ChicagoPriusGroup. Right now we're on summer break but many will be heading up to Hybridfest in July. Then in August we'll be going to Oregon, IL for a public outreach event, which will be posted here in about a week. and then we'll resume regular meetings.

I'll be looking forward to the regular meetings when they start back up. I believe there are a lot of new Prius owners here in the Chicago area and I look forward to going to a meeting. :D

    It has been a while.

Last year, I took the year off and Wayne Mitchell took over. He did a good job of organizing attendance at third-party events such as the Elgin Car Show and the Renewable Energy Fair.

I simply can't do it anymore. Organizing events takes days if not weeks to plan, organize, orchestrate, and then execute. Maintaining the website - even though it's not much - would consume multiple evenings per week. Writing and distributing newsletters took nights and weekends.

A couple years ago I knew of job opportunities that would require more of my time. I welcomed the opportunities to grow my skills and career. It was at that time when I started asking regular members if they would be willing to help out. Perhaps contact Toyota dealers, maybe plan an event, even type a few things for a newsletter. Uniformly, the response was that they enjoy coming to the events but had no interest in working on them.

What Wayne and I did from 2004 to 2008 was a labor of love. We promoted hybrids and hybrid technology. We made friends and did what we could to reduce emissions and our dependency on foreign oil. And it was for this endeavor that we spent our time and money with no regrets or intentions of getting either back. But I now have less time than I used to and what time I have is dedicated to my wife and home endeavors. And with no one to help Wayne, I do not know how he will be able to plan and execute more events.
