whats next is walking away from the business manager without him selling you all kinds of insurance and extended warranties
I did not know that they sold insurance, but he already hit me up about the warranty. I took Clayfree's advice and played it cool on that one. I might be interested in buying a warranty here from PC Shop, in the future, but am unable to find the link. Any help on that? I printed out the pick up checklist. I suppose the car will be in by this weekend, but you can never tell.
yea, they sell different types of insurance..gap, life, window etching to name a few. just watch what you sign, i bought 3 things and didnt know til the next day, it was late,,, u can get an extended warranty anytime before 3 years/36,000 miles i'm waiting til i get closer to my end of original warranty to get an extended warranty likely here on PC. and dont let them tell you that u have to extend the warranty at time of purchase or certain things will not be covered..thats total garbage..
Well, I called tonight to see if the car was at the dealership. Nope, maybe tomorrow. I also asked him to please make sure that nobody put any stickers or emblems on the car. He said no problem, but would I mind a Toyota of Plano license bracket? I said that was ok as I did not want to come off as a zealot and I can easily change that later. Hopefully I will get a call tomorrow early am after I drop off Hailey (daughter) at training. Dallas is only about 3.5 hours from where I live and I can smell the Pei Wei from here!
same thing happened to us. walked in and he was all nice untill we refused the add ons......he just about threw papers at us...in hind site i should have stood up and walked away...what an idiot..
small world, i'll be at toyota of plano first thing manana getting some service. they had more than a dozen on the lot 16 months ago when i bought mine ; times have changed
I am finally a full fledged member of PriusChat! 08 Spectra Blue Mica Prius pkg 6 is nestled safe and sound in the garage. I love it and am so excited! Salesman called yesterday (Sat.) and said the Prius was there at the dealers and if we wanted we could wait until today (Sun.) to pick it up. It had arrived rather late in the afternoon. We got up this morning and salesman called again and asked us to bring all of our info on the Tahoe and he will see what he could work on about a trade in. Yea right! I am a good sport and said sure. With their offer, we came home with the Tahoe. We got to Dallas around 2pm. We drove around the dealership to see if we could see the car and sure enough it was sitting in a spot marked sold car. We walked into the dealership and Anish, the salesman, greeted us and asked if we would like to go for a drive. The car had 4 miles on the odometer. Carter drove the car and Anish talked and explained everything. He was very knowledgeable about the car and it's inner workings. We got back to the dealership and he went over a few more things and then we went to the finance manager's office and signed some papers. He tried to hard sell us the extended warranty. We politely refused. His boss came in at that point (office bugged?) and really tried to sell us the warranty. We again politely refused. We were shuttled back to Anish and he went over the vehicle from top to bottom with us. He had a checklist and went over it with a fine tooth comb. I can't say enough nice things about this guy. He really knew his stuff and explained it in very easy to understand terms. We left the dealership without incident with Carter driving the Prius and me driving the Tahoe. Man, SBM really shines in the sun! It looked great going down the road. We ate at Pei Wei and hit the road. We stopped off to pick up Hailey, our daughter, at my mom's. My mom and dad just loved the car. Mom drove it and is regretting the new Malibu she just purchased. We get back on the road to drive the last 40 miles home. All in all very uneventful. As you know if you read my other posts, I hate dealerships. It was not that way at Toyota of Plano. They really made me feel at home. I would definately recommend doing business with them. As I sit here typing this, I realize that I have not driven the car yet! I do want to say a big thank you to all of you who helped me with this. I am sure you are part of the reason that I had more confidence going into the dealership. I was more knowledgeable and knew exactly what I did and did not want. As a side note, Anish told Carter and I that they had been paying the car rental place up the road so that people could test drive a Prius before they bought one. He told us that they are no longer doing that. He said that they are not putting anyone else on their waiting list either. Demand is high and supply is low Very glad we took the plunge. Thanks guys and I will upload pics tomorrow, computer gods willing.
I guess I am still a Prius virgin. I'll remedy that tomorrow. If I invite you to watch, is that solicitation?
Thanks, lefat1! I agree about SBM being the best color! By the way, I drove the car for the 1st time this morning. It was great. No problems at all. Can't wait until I have a reason to do some real driving.
Congratulations! I have the same opinion about Totota of Plano, they were nice to deal with. I laughed about them having a rental to drive because that's the car I test drove ... a white 2008. Good luck with your new baby!
Thanks Clayfree! I am trying to convince my dad to go over and pick out a car. He drives about 200 miles round trip to work 5-6 days a week and always buys dirt cheap Corollas with tons of miles on them. Drives them until they fall apart and then rescues another. I like what he is doing and understand his reasoning, but I saw that look in his eyes when he saw that SBM drive into his driveway.
Here's the quote we got from Champion Toyota in Austin... 2008, Touring, Package #6 with the following add-ons: - Rear bumper protector, - Mud guards, - XM radio, - Glass break sensor. It came to $29,195, not including TTL. Champion says it will take 4 - 5 months to get one in. We put down a $500 deposit. Drop me an email. I've been doing lots of price research here in Central Texas.
This is my first post and I almost had a heart attack. Someone above changed a "9" to a "1" and had me wondering why I paid $22,448 (including documentation and saleman's daughters college fund fees) for a Base Prius when a Touring #6 was going for just over $21,000. I started out looking for a Touring with a Touring Package or a Package #2 but Southeast Toyota which covers Tampa isn't listing a Touring with a Package 2 anymore and there were no Touring/Tourings anywhere in the pipeline so I decided to settle for a Base since I really don't want all the add on's that come with the higher packages. I'm a reformed German Car driver and the suspensions is what attracted me to a Touring. I ordered it on 5/17 at Autoway Toyota in Clearwater and was told it'll take about 4 weeks. I'm prepared for a longer wait.
