Tint Comparison Pics

Thanks for the pics. I've had my red prius for a couple of weeks and am thinking about a tint. Some posts here have quoted prices of up to 8-9 hundred dollars. $300 from the dealer sounds very reasonable.

Both look good. Your post has helped me decide I want 20% installed on my Prius when it arrives. Unfortunately where I live we can't tint the front two windows unless we want a serious ticket...

 

The lighter one is what I want for my rear windows. Looks great.

I like having the front un-tinted b/c it's better for night visibility, and also I drive to so many beautiful places and don't want to interfere w/ the view.
Plus it makes me less likely to get hassled by the cops.

 

Perhaps in Canada you could try to stick on vinyl cling tint on the front windows that very easily peels off and re-applies.

 

Those numbers may have had other work involved. I've never heard of $800 for a tint only invoice. 8-10 windows could cost upwards of $325 but that is usually tops. You sure that wasn't for a clear bra application?

 

$800 seems like a lot! I got my tint for all around except front windshield for $130. I'm not sure the % of the tint, but their were 4 levels. Light, Medium, Dark, Limo. I chose the 3rd one, Dark all around.

 

In AZ they really don't enforce tint laws. We can have all the back windows as dark as we want and the front windows relatively dark. We can even tint the windshield, although only very slightly. With that being said I figured if I ever decided to go limo on my driver/passenger window I would just quickly roll down both windows if I were to ever pull up next to a police officer.

 

I have had my 2008 for a little over 2 weeks. Our Meineke stores down here in South Florida do laser cut tinting which is nice since alot of the windows on the Prius are small and awkward for someone to trace and cut. I have the nav system and bluetooth so I went with a carbon baced tint. A couple pics to check out below.

Love the tint and also the pin striping. Did you do?I usually do it myself but was trying to figure out what would look nice. I think you gave me an idea.

Yes, Danny mentions it in his new features thread. I like it. I would prefer to have attached photos full size in the post and not have thumbnails (like the old days), but I still like it.

 

We had our tint done, as dark as legal, around here for less than $100.
This included all side windows, even the small front one on each side, a windshield band, & the rear hatch. I thought that we had gotten a super with a life time warranty !
But, this guy is now out of biz along with our warranty, but the job still, after 18 month, looks super.
