I have what is best described as a missing just before shutoff and the shutoff is hard. Its like tryin g to decide if it wants to shutoff and then it does. Is that normal? It feels like its missing when it does this.

Normal, it's more noticable in cooler weather and usually only for the first ICE shut off as it's a transitional step from S3 to S4. Should be smoother every time after that.

For all the good things on this car there are opposing bad things. Toyota really had its head up its tailpipe on half the things on this car.

    Bad:
    Hard shutdown of ice
Stumbling shutdown and missing jerky shutdown
    Screen has no sunshade
2 screens to see details on ice/mpg/etc
LARGE foot rest and holes in the carpet that gets in the damn way
    Seats totally uncomfortable
seats wont go back far enough
    BEEPING................ Wth??
    NO lighted control sticks
    Wiper too close to power/cruise
ICE on but does not show on
NO XM choice when buying only serius
NO fan control switches on dash or steering
PAINFUL volume control 30 clicks to make a change
    No auto headlights
    No auto locks
    Hard armrests

I could go on but Im tired now.

I only see one problem: you bought the wrong car.

while most of those features would be included in the interior, they had to cut cost due to the hybrid system. If you want more luxuries, you should trade up for the hybrid camry..in a way I wish i would have bought it over the prius, but i've come to respect and enjoy the prius without all the bells and whistle for the most part. They do need to offer a moon roof in the 2009 models though, that is one major lacking option that could easily be done..for a price

The ICE is stopped at a particular crankshaft position. Sometimes it misses on the first try. I've noticed Pearl try as many as three times in a row before getting it, but that is rare.

Anyway, that adds to the "roughness at shutdown" situation. It's normal. As stated above, worse in winter, worse if you have the "wrong oil" in the engine (too viscous). Sometimes I don't even notice the shutdown, sometimes I wonder what's wrong as the car shakes.

    It's not a big deal.
