Hi Huibin, Thanks for your follow-up comments and all the photos! Regarding HID, although they consume less power than regular halogen headlights, some owners have found them unreliable and very expensive to repair. Its not always obvious if the problem is the bulb, the high voltage supply, or the computer. So you may be better off leaving your car as-is especially since your local dealer support may not be perfect, given the small Prius population there. I doubt that you will be able to notice an mpg change with HID vs. regular halogen bulbs. My 2004 has HID which (so far) have been trouble-free. What size tires do you have? In the US, the regular Prius comes with 185-65R15 while the Touring Prius has 195/55R16. Speaking of Touring Prius, do you have the extra big rear spoiler in the back or the regular size rear spoiler? You may have noticed the Flying White Dutchman's comment that you have the older 2004-2005 MFD. One difference between the older and the newer MFD is the video interface. This is why your car does not have a rear view camera, which became available in 2006 when the new design MFD was introduced. I suppose your MFD must be similar to the one that shipped to continental Europe since it shows fuel consumption in terms of liters per 100 km. The US MFD shows fuel consumption as miles per US gallon while the UK MFD shows fuel consumption in terms of miles per Imperial gallon. Do people turn & look at your car when you drive by? Prius must be an unusual sighting in Beijing.
you seem to have a 2004 MY Prius. The display, the pastics and the settering wheel says so. Tell me, what colour id the brake plastic light at the back? Black or silver? Size? 15" or 16" rims?
In the US and Canada, if you don't have the backup camera, you get the lower res MFD like the 04/05 ones. If you have the backup camera option, then you get the new higher resolution screen. He said China doesn't offer backup camera as an option so he's stuck with the lower resolution MFD.
FTMS-Ò»Æû·áÌïÆû³µÃúÊÛÓÃÃÞ¹«Ë¾-PRIUSÆÕÈñ˹-¹æ¸ñ It's interesting. It has 195/60R15 tires. It has rear disc brake. It has clear rear brake lamp cover. Ken@Japan
In the Eu you only get Hi-Res screen - regardless. What's more, his steering wheel is not leather, like our MY2006 is. Even his dashboard looks like my 2004 rather than today's MY206.
Oh? lucky bums. We get the base screen unless the rear camera is ordered. We don't get leather-werapped steering wheel either in Canada, only in the US (and only with the top package with the leather interior). lastly, his steering wheel looks like the 06+ one. The airbag cover has the 06+ design.
Tyre specification: 195/R60/15. Only temporary use spare tyre equipped instead of full size regular tyre.
Hi Ken, I noticed that the Japanese display shows km/liter instead of liter/100 km. So, it looks like at least four fuel consumption displays are available: km/liter, liter/100 km, miles/US gallon, and miles/Imperial gallon. Also, I note that your 49.1 km/l translates to 115 miles per US gallon and that you covered 2,343 km or 1,456 miles...What was your average speed over the 2,343 km?? Do JDM Prius have rear disc brakes?
In the US we have a narrower (185mm) thread on the standard Prius. I believe everywhere gets the temporary use spare tire.
Hi Patrick Wong, That display picture from Ken, was actually of "teddy girl"'s record run. She lives in a more rural area of Japan, with slow speed roads. And the JDM cars do not have the gas tank bladder.
It's Teddy-Girl's. The detail story is... World record distance on a single tank for a Prius II - Japan - July 4 - Aug 16, 2006 - CleanMPG Forums No. All Japanese 2004- Prii have rear drum brakes. 2343 / 49.1 = 47.2 liters(12.6 US gallons). Ken@Japan
60 litres is the theoretical maximum. I managed to squeeze nearly 49 litres, but then I got fed up. I'm pretty sure I would have reached 50 if I insisted. Oh, I do get to travel 120 km on a blinking reserve.
yeah i've travelled about 100km before on the blinking light with the bladder however, I've only bumped 38 or 39 litres once and that was during the summer. I've yet to pump 40 litres or more.
The famous 1397 mile marathon team used up 12.78 gallons. GreenHybrid - Hybrid Cars - View Single Post - Prius II - 100 + MPG Marathon Attempt - Live Updates ... Ken@Japan
today i filed up my first tank of gas to do some measurements about mpg's i got a disappointing 4,8l/100km but maybe that because of the expending bladder there where still 2 blibs so i guess around 10-15% left and i got 39,62 liters in there so a total of 50-55liters... and maybe because the last time i got the car the bladder was smaller due to cold outside temp. so maybe when i take 5 liters off that i get 4,24L/100km an thats more what i expected
