I don't know why I did not notice it before, but I do now. All the displays go really dim when I turn on the headlights for daytime driving.

Today, I was trying to adjust climate, but could not see the screen and while fiddling with the screen, trying to flip off the headlights, etc., I nearly swerved off the road....my fault, sure.

But, if there is a way to "turn-up the light" on the screens for daytime driving with headlights, please let me know. I already have the brightness control as high as it will go (that little wheel thingy on the dash).

There should be a detent when you turn the knob all the way up; click past the stop and the panel lights should be as bright as when the lights are off.

My 2004 MFD has a display button in the upper right corner. If that button is pressed a menu will be revealed that allows screen color choice and screen brightness.

If you have HID headlights, since their lifetime is limited while the replacement cost is high, you may want to reconsider using headlights in the daytime unless the weather is rainy & dark.

Kimgh: I am now officially in love with you...even if you turn out to be a woman

Your solution worked!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
If it were legal to mail wine, I would mail my LAST bottle of the 2007 blackberry harvest to you in appreciation.

Now, one other question, if anyone can....and sorry, no wine for this one either. How do I know if I have HID headlights....I lost my "this is what is on the car" sheet.... And yes, I am a blonde, sorta:rolleyes:

If you have foglights, you have HID headlights.

Normally it's the bleach does the brain damage.

Sorry Aussie cars are different to US in that we don't get HID lights on Prius so can't help with this one.

    Oh, that's a help for sure!?!

I DO know what fog lights are, I think, aren't they those those big things mounted on top of pickups....Never seen them on Prius.

As for the bleach comment. I am hurt. My hair was nearly white when I was little. Each year it gets a bit darker. It was perfect blonde at 16. Now at 25 it is what my brother loves to call dishwater-ish.

The Prius fog lights are located in the lower grille in the front bumper cover. They are relatively small, round, and are primarily for decorative purposes - I haven't noticed any posters admit to being able to see better in fog with the lights on. Maybe they will help other drivers to see you.

If you have these lights, your next question might be where the fog light switch is. It is located on the main light switch and is a ring that you rotate to turn the fog lights on & off.

Thank you Patrick for your help on the fog lights. I've been on Google images trying to find Prius fog lights, but I only ended up more confused.

I have no little round lights. Just the big giant lights that end at the bottom of the grill and look like two headlights stacked atop each other:D

So, guess I better avoid San Francisco.

Hey Cyberprius. It doesn't look like you have HIDs.

As Bohous said, I have package 2. Unfortunately, unlike Bohous, I was not swift enough to think about checking the web to see what package two includes.

So, I have no fog lights, but I do have a rear wiper blade that refuses to budge from the rear glass. LOL

Actually, I am a man (there are a few male Kims around...). But I'm an old married guy (coming up on 35 years) so I don't think I'm allowed to have any 25 year-old blondes in love with me!

I've got a couple of unattached sons your age, though ;)

The plastic cover on the bottom where the wiper swivels pulls off so you can lift the wiper. It clips right back on.

And once you get the little plastic cover off the bottom of the rear windshield wiper arm, you will note it has a plastic tab inside. Cut off that tab before putting the plastic cover back and you will be able to lift the wiper without ever removing the plastic cover again.

My husband probably wouldn't care....and in January when he smashed up my NEW car with only 400 miles on it, I would have gladly traded him in for a turnip;)

as for your headlights... if the light looks yellowish, it's normal halogen.. if it looks really bright and bluish.. they are HIDs... also.. when HID's are switched on, they seem to almost warm up when they are turned on.

fogs are the little round lights under the main lights. look at efusco's avatar pic.
