It kinda irritates me that I have to reach over and around the steering wheel with my coffee cup in my hands every morning. Would it be possible to make the CC kill into a power button to fire up the car?

How nice would it be to pull the CC arm back and have it fire up the car. It would also be a stealth power switch.

Wouldn't it be hard to reach the CC stalk with a coffe mug in your hand?

Besides if you moved it to the CC stalk where would the CaostalETeach EV mod go?

    Drink your coffee.

    Then get into the car.

Yep, easy fix, dump the coffee.
If you really need to carry a cup of coffee why not put the coffee cup in the cup holder before you start to drive? Have a sip when you are stopped then return it to the cup holder before moving again. Gee driving can be real easy when you don't make it hard.

If you are drinking from a cup that doesn't fit in the cup holder and you hold it in you hand the whole trip you are a bloody idiot!!!

Why not just put a button on the floor, you would not have to use your hands at all.

You are probably too young to remember when the starter switch was located on the floor in (most)all cars.

Don't drink anything while driving. It's a distraction, and only a matter of time until you dump it on yourself or onto a not-very-forgiving part of the car.

You should have your coffee set up as an IV. Then you would just need a little clip to hang the bag on and you are set to go.

OK everyone seems to be missing the big picture and stuck on nothing. The power button is in a weird place. Its not ergo friendly. It would have been better placed on the front of the dash not on top and in front of a big wheel.

I used the coffee as an example and everyone got freaked out and became weird about it.

Its a simple question if you aren't smart enough to reply with an answer about power button relocation then go away and hide under your rock. You brought this reply on your selves.

    Name calling?

IMO, its not the brightest idea to make the Power button too accessible because it also can turn off the car as well. So you don't want to press it by accident.

How about put down the coffee cup before starting? You will have to put on the seat belt anyway right?

Don't see the problem, if you drive on the the right side of the road the button is in the perfect position, pull the door shut and press the start button with the same hand, coffee no problems.:)

AH HA, it's all a conspiracy against America, I KNEW IT. Ew, wait a minute, we do drive on the right side of the road. HEY, do you mean left side of the road, for right hand drive cars?

My car has the power button by the drivers door, right beside the slot for the key fob, very easy to access.
I stand by the the comment that people who drink coffee from a cup while moving are idiots. Especially if there is no place to secure the cup while moving.

I think Pat is referring to this arrangement.

While I agree with the consensus that moving the power button isn't a great idea, there isn't any danger of turning the car off while driving as it only turns off while stopped. (Unless of course you held it in for an emergency shutoff.)

I have to admit I like this placement of the power switch -- but would like it on the other side. I see no reason why problemchild couldn't rig his power to the CC since many of us don't use it that ofthen if at all.

BTW, I will stay away from the coffee cup thing, problemchild was right to chide you guys for not staying on topic. I just wish I had a SKS for my coffeepot at work. Wouldn't it be great if your coffeepot recognized when you were near and started brewing?

That was actually my thinking; you wouldn't want it in a location where it could accidentally be pushed and held for a second or so.

I honestly have never considered that it was in an inconvenient location, although the RH drive version is probably in a better location than our NA version.
