I couldn't put my finger on why it is I felt the way I do about the entire incident. But this guy explained it. I just knew there was more.

 

No. You just have to "join." So many people complained about seeing political threads in the list of "recent posts" that the politics forum was set up to be separate.

They do make it confusing, however:

You have to click on "User CP" at the top of any page. That's cryptic for "User Control panel."

Then you have to click on "Group Memberships."

There are only two "groups": "Registered Users" which you cannot quit, and Fred's House of Politics, which you can join or quit.

I don't think Danny intended to make it so difficult to figure out how to get in. He just wanted to make it an opt-in group.

The chickens quote is originally from Malcolm X.
The Malcolm X statement was probably much more inflammatory than Wright's.It had to do with the JFK assassination.
"When asked for a comment about the assassination of President Kennedy in November 1963, Malcolm said that it was a case of "the chickens coming home to roost." He added that "Chickens coming home to roost never made me sad. It only made me glad." This remark prompted a widespread public outcry. The Nation of Islam publicly censured their former shining star. Although Malcolm retained his post and rank as minister, Elijah Muhammad banned him from public speaking for 90 days."

 

You know Mojo, I used to be hoping Hillary gets the nomination, but you have finally done it, you have convinced me that Obama is the one to root for, when people look for as much BS as you do against Obama, that means he is the better person.

Obama by far has proven his ability to lead, even if its just a speech inspiring a nation, and people like you, looking for the smallest, meaningless, stupidest thing to try to prove your point, means that he scares you, and to me that means a scare for the better.

If you are a fan of Hillary, you have done her no service, just thought I would point that out, a true fan would be pointing out the positives of their candidate, not trying to create negatives of their opponent. Thank you for pointing out that Obama is the better candidate of the two.

 

I've gotten so cynical about our national news coverage that I believe that they DID take a look and they knew what he was talking about. They are more interested in swaying people than they are reporting or investing in the truth. It's all about cash, not facts.

 

AMEN!! I think you hit the nail right on the head here. When you see how obsessed the GOP is with attacking Obama, it is because he is the one they most fear.

 

Ah! So because Malcolm X used the common colloquial expression "the chickens have come home to roost" with regard to JFK, therefore Wright's use of the same common colloquial expression with regard to 9/11 means that Barak Obama is a bad man.

Your reasoning is impressive for its utter lack of logic.

Let me try to put this into perspective:

Reverend Wright is a minister in the Black church, who is angered and outraged that the United States has repeatedly slaughtered innocent women and children in its expansionist wars. He's angered because he is a Christian.

Reverend Wright brought Barak Obama to Christianity, presided over his marriage, baptized his children, and has been a friend to him.

Obama does not share Reverend Wright's anger at America, and has made that clear, but he understands why the slaughter of innocent people in the past and in the present would anger a Christian like Reverend Wright.

Now, because Barak Obama merely denounces Wright's anger, and does not denounce the man himself, you would have us believe that Obama is evil incarnate. Do you believe that the slaughter of the native Americans, the napalming of Vietnamese children, the bombing of civilians in Granada and Panama, and the slaughter of children in Iraq by America were all holy and upright and justified actions which all Christians should be proud of???

Do you really believe that a Christian minister who expresses anger and outrage at these cold-blooded murders by our country should be denounced and abandoned by his friends?

If so, you and I have very different ideas about international relations and the meaning of friendship.

Your hatred of Barak Obama cannot be rooted in his failure to dump his friend and minister for some comments against the U.S. government. I wish you would be honest with us and tell us why you hate this man so much, because I do not believe you are being honest with us about why you hate him so fiercely.

In fact, you have expressed opposition to this war. Reverend Wright has expressed the same view you hold!!! But he's done it in some very colorful language. The Black church in America is known for colorful language. So what it really comes down to is that you accuse Barak Obama of being evil because he has not broken a lifelong friendship over his friend's rhetorical style. This makes you appear not only hateful, but shallow.

I cannot remember when you've posted anything positive about the candidate you support. Only vitriolic ranting against the candidate you oppose. I'll bet berman gets a warm fuzzy feeling every time he reads another of your posts. You are becoming a worthy disciple of the master of bile.

You really summed it all up, Daniel - the entire issue. Thanks for effectively & clearly addressing the illogical assertions and ridiculous justifications of them made by many of the folks who have been attacking both Rev. Wright and especially Obama.
