Hi all, I have wanted a Prius since I first heard of them and I will finally have one of my very own! I should have my car early next week. This purchase is a celebration of finishing my doctorate and six months of having a real paying job! I am interested in learning more about how to get the most out of my Prius and chat with people who love the car as much as I do.
Congratulations on finishing your doctorate and welcome. It sounds like you are in the right place. Now just ask away.
I am so excited although with the slush/ice we had today I was glad to be driving my trusty Saturn and not a new car. I have never owned an automatic transmission, anti-lock brakes, nor traction control. I have a feeling it will be like when I went from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive. One thing I forgot to add about my shopping trip on Saturday. My Dad came along with me because he likes test driving cars for fun plus I wanted his validation of my purchase. He and his wife also purchased a Prius (Black #6)! Their Prius is on the boat from Japan...so I still will get mine first.
Will you soon be the owner of a Magnetic Gray Prius, or is something terrible happening to your skin? Tom
Re: Soon to be owner of a 2008 Magnetic Gray #4 Prius I will get my Prius Tuesday! Is there an online version of the 2008 manual anywhere? I want to read up!!! Dad's Prius arrived yesterday so I rode around in his car for a bit before he went home. It is quiet and comfortable in the back seat too!
Jennifer congrats on your doctorate....now its time for you to work for a living..this car grows on you...it is changing my habits of enjoying life in the fast lane to seeing how many miles I can squeeze out of a gallon of gas...Its me and the old ladies hugging the right lane and coasting whenever possible. Everytime I tell my friend how I am squeezing more miles per gallon he says his neighbor who owns a Prius gets more MPG. I then ask him how that double cab truck is doing on the MPG's and he is now thinking of getting another one only a hybrid...It will be great for him hell be able to get 17 mpg versus 14 with his current truck.....I guess this is what the therapists call ':roll:making progress'
Congratulations! The Prius didn't exist when I got my doctorate, but I think you're getting a great car at a great time in your life! Woohoo!
If you have already set your price, here is something to go for at the signing table, Toyota has a $400 recent College Graduate rebate/incentive, make sure you ask about that.
Congrats! That is the exact year/color/package I got 5 weeks ago...and loving it - especially the mileage, which is even better by 5-10MPG over the silver 2007 I had previously! Let us know how you like it when its finally yours... BTW, I also think Mag. Grey is the best color
