    OOps. I wore green yesterday.

Oh, well, I'm not Irish so I hope I can be forgiven for being one day off. It's the thought that counts....right?

Ah, me sainted grand-ma, but one generation from the Emerald Isle, would emphatically state that the historically correct spelling is "Padraig." Ergo,

Happy Saint Paddy's Day. Erin Go Brah!

'Can't say I take it too seriously, I just did the brisket on the barbeque!

I am attempting a vegan corned "veef" and cabbage dinner, using a hybrid seitan recipe (one was a vegan corned "veef" standard seitan dinner, the other was a chickpea cutlet (seitan light) recipe).

I am Irish (and a few other things), and I'm sure Patrick would have done his best to drive me out of Eire, as I'm one of the "snakes"... in other words, pagans.

I've been wearing black today. In mourning for all the pagans that have been slaughtered in religious wars.

But, I do still love corned "veef" and cabbage.

If he were around, would St. Patrick use a wind turbine blade instead of a shamrock leaf to demonstrate the doctrine of the Trinity?

St Patrick's day was yesterday here, we are almost a day and 50 years in front of USA <flame suit on> and it was the 18th anniversary of moving into my new home. I didn't even realise it was Saint Pats day until one of my neighbours told me a year later he moved in on the same day as me on St Patrick's day 1990.
Good luck to everyone on PC.

Someone at Google has way too much time and/or fun.
I often hit the street view just to see what the little man is from day to day.

FWIW, I just thought I'd mention that St. Patrick did not chase any snakes out of Ireland because there never were any snakes in Ireland.

That's not to say that you can't drink some green beer today. Only that you're drinking to a fraud. But to a committed alcoholic, that should not matter.

    Happy Pat's Day!

may the road rise up to meet you
may the wind be always at your back
may the sun shine warm upon your face
the rain fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again, may god hold you in the palm of his hand.

    [or]

let those that love us, love us
and those who don't, may god turn their hearts
and if he doesn't turn their hearts
may he turn their ankles, so we know em by their limpin'

two of my favorite irish prayers.

I have catholic Irish on one side and protestant Irish on the other, so I'm as much orange as green. I feel pretty conflicted about St. Patty's day; sometimes I put a bomb in my own car.

My first step-father was of Irish descent. He used to say that the Irish peasants lived on potatoes, buttermilk, and poteen, and were the healthiest peasantry in all of Europe. But then, he also said that cigarettes were the only thing that kept him alive, at a time when his lungs were so rotted out that he could hardly walk.

"Snakes" was a euphonism for pagans. He force-converted a lot of people in Ireland, which made him a hero for Rome.
