just hooked up scanguage yesterday and drove roundtrip from nashville to metropolis ill. just plugs in under dash no sweat. it started turning off. so i read the little dinky manual where it says to set it for hybrid. duhhh. has not cut out since. the neat thing i enjoyed was actually seeing how lazy the little ice is. most of the time its turning about 1200 rpms. when you are accelerating ive pushed it to a little over 4000 rpms. pretty cool. also enjoyed watching water temp. geesh an actual guage.. once car is warmed up it averagaes (on my trip) about mid 180 f. has a lot of other esoteric things as well. but im not into intake mainfold temp etc. because im kind of a slob i just hooked under dash and ran wire to center compartmnet under the mfd . stuffed all the extra wire behind it. i was able to pressure fit the unit right into the space so no velcro or anything. of course i do have that uglyass wire on the outside of my dash. a real install would probably hide that. the manual at first looks cheap, poorly written too small to read etc. however i found that if i really stuck with it then i was able to understand. i think a physically larger manual would be easier to read but thats a small criticism. one other thing ... its kind of cool having guages that read off info that the car has been sending all this time.
You can drill a small hole (about the size of the connector to the scanguage) in the left rear corner of the storage container that you now keep the guage in and feed the connector up through it. Nice neat install and you can still take it out and put it on the dash.
I drilled the hole in my storage area in the bottom. That way when I take my SG2 out, I put the felt bottom back covering the hole and one would never know the hole was there.
Any tried the DashDQ much nicer display then ScanGuage Anyone tried the DashDQ? DashDQ seems to have much better and higher quality display then ScanGuage. It also has much cooler look. You can customize the display almost infinitly and monitor just about anything you want to see. Plugs into your OBD just like ScanGuage... a way cool looking product. Found it accidentally while surfing the web... Here is there web site link: DashDAQ Series II - customizable OBD2 gauges, data logging, dianostics, and GPS Navigation Looks like won some SEMA awards, cost more, but WOW very flexible display, very nice display. I have not tried it, may order it next month...manufacture says it will work great in the Prius.

I especially like the fact that it is based on open source (imagine all of the cool software hacks that linux comunity can create) i also like to use this as a tool to monitor the car and and learn how to adapt my own driving to my prius. well those are good reasons for sure, but another reason is that it looks like a super cool toy for toyota and beyond.

Hi Is there anybody interested in the DashDAQ with NAV? I run an auto expeditor business selling to car dealers and such. I would like to buy one of these with the NAV, but DashDAQ wants me to buy two to start out with. The cost of this unit with the NAV is $556.00 and $439 without. I think they want me to buy two of the same. I may be able to mix the first buy. I'll pick up the tab for shipping to me. Shipping to elsewhere is on the buyer though.
