    No.

The next poster's newly acquired rescued puppy, EQ, has PARVO, which can be fatal.

(My wife and I, spent the night at the animal hospital, and got a treatment to administer. He has a 50/50 chance of living.

We could have put him down last night; but I stood over him, while my wife Ellen was crying, and even the vet was crying, and I just silently, in my head, said, 'If you want to fight this, stand up' (he had just been lying there, all still)...and as I was about to agree with the vet, when she said, 'so you are going to put him down then', when EQ stood up.

He stood up. I believe in God, and when he stood up, I just know, God had heard my thought, and with that, EQ got the message: If you are going to fight this, stand up and fight this.

So we got him shot full of liquids and antibiotics, and are home with him, as he is in the crate by Ellen's feet, (in case he has more EXPLOSIVE, and I mean, super stinky at that, diearhea). He has medicine, and so far, has taken it, and has piddled, but nothing else..which is a good thing so far.

If he can keep the drink of water down, and does not throw up like he did three times last night (been eight plus hours since he has), he might have a chance. We are looking to see if by about five tonight if he can have some rice, and keep that down.

His chances for surviving this do go up each day this week. He has to go about five more days, to have the virus out of his system.

So if you could keep the little guy in your prayers, and all, that would be appreciated.

I'll let you know what happens.

The next poster will be in CalTech on Tuesday and Wednesday for a meeting with the National Science Foundation (show us the money) and is going to enjoy 70F weather which won't hit Michigan until ... (thinking)...

No bird. And it's raining. But I have had dogs that have had parvo and lived. (The most important thing is to keep the electrolytes balanced as the vomiting and diarrhea play havoc. They did this intraveneously at the hospital for Caesar. Caesar had his shots and still got it. Parvo vacine is nt as reliable as rabies. Some breeds survive better than others. Rottweilers and Dobermans get it bad. Labradors have a better survival rate. My Caesar was Doberman/Lab and vet gave him 50/50. He was in the hospital 3 days and survived. He was skinny but happy to see me. When he's over the worst, feed him babyfood. Then each day mix in a little of his food with the baby food, more each day until he's on straight dog food. Ramses had Parvo at 9 weeks. He was carried in a sling the entire time so he wouldn't be alone....just in case. He's a little clingy but otherwise healthy.)

The next poster is going to get wet gardening today as there are trees to plant and it's raining.

Actually I'm nesting in my old home (of 20 years) and loving it. I love to stay home with my puppy. And he loves it when I do. And when it's rainy it's so cozy to look out the windows and be warm and dry.

The next poster is so sorry to hear about T.J.'s new puppy and hopes the puppy gets well soon.

(If your dog has come down with Parvo, clean EVERYTHING with a solution of 1oz of chlorine bleach to 1qt of water. This is a solution commonly used by veterinarians. Other cleaning solutions will not kill the virus. While the Parvovirus is a dog specific disease and cannot be transmitted to humans, your dog can get it again.
Decontaminating the Parvovirus isn’t done easily as the virus is extremely virulent. Actual chlorine bleach is really the only known household agent that can kill the virus, as it will corrupt the DNA, much like HIV or any other virus. To clean surfaces, floors and equipment, mix 1 part bleach with 30 parts water or 4 to 8 ounces of bleach with 1 gallon of water. Be sure to clean food and water bowels, crates, and any item the dog will come into contact with, even the ground outside.

Indeed, I hope he does get better soon.

The next poster might be pleased to know that my puppy is showing signs of energy, and has not been sick since, well, since the last time he was sick, which was almost 12 hours ago.
