First Post: Does this thread include used from private indivs? Last month I found an 05 on Craigslist for $14,900. 47k miles, bluetooth/SatNav/6CD package. The guy selling was a lawyer who had been given the car by a friend who owed him money. (So owner had signed over the title but it was just waiting for a new owner to be recorded.) Without negotiating, he lowered the price to $14,600, saying that was all he wanted since that was all he was owed. I had the car towed to a dealer for checkout (he covered the tow!). They said it could use new tires and brakes but was otherwise in good condition (except some scuffing on the lower glove box where owner had leaned some sharp tool or something). So I called my bank/insurance co, had them fedex the check, and voila: I'm the proud owner since the day before Thanksgiving. I've since brought it to my local dealer (where they covered one outstanding recall issue - VERY IMPORTANT for second handers: bring it to a dealer to check for this) for a second check and an oil change and was told the brakes are OK until the next oil change. I also put the new tires on and filled with Nitrogen (thanks Priuschat for that tip). Now I just need to get the hang of maxing out the MPGs by modifying my driving.
Bought mine last week - Spectra Blue, package #2 $22,500 plus tax & license Manhattan Beach Toyota (I don't recommend going there, I had a very traumatic experience)
I just bought an 08 Package #5, and I LOOOOVE it. Sure is better on gas than my old huge SUV! But we ended up paying 25K... Still not too sure if I am as happy with the deal as I am with the car. But I am happy regardless!
Just got mine last night ^^ Brand New 2008 Base Prius + Package 2 + All-Weather mats. Toyota of Lake City - Seattle, WA. Price I paid: "Special sell price $1 over invoice" $22,171 (Invoice + $1) + $2039.73 (9.8% Tax) $186.50 (Licensing) + $50 (Doc Fee) = $24447.23 (Total including tax, license, options, and "dealer documentary service fee") I went over the details at length here: http://priuschat.com/forums/dealers...r-22-171-t-l-doc-fee-toyota-lake-city-wa.html
Bought mine on 01.07.08 MSRP - $28254 Purchased - $27254 Carmax had them for $1501 off of MSRP, but they didn't have one that I liked color wise. Loved the car so much and am saving so much in fuel that I didn't even want to waste the time trying to get more off the deal.
hmm 2005 prius package 9 used 11,250 miles hmm $ 12,860 2001 prius with cd player used 42260 miles $5700
2008 Package #2 Seaside Pearl - $22,490 w/3M Chiprotect Full Kit* ($750) & 9.9% sales tax, doc fees, title & registration, license = $25,751 Financed through Toyota & got top tier rate of 5.99% apr. Used Edmunds.com to find TMV & send out requests to dealerships for quotes - the best way to buy a car!!! Did the negotiations in my pj's at home over the phone b/f I went to the dealership. Actually liked my car buying experience. Larry & Brian over at Toyota of Kirkland were kind, courteous and direct. Entire team was a pleasure to work with. One caveat, I forgot about the "after" sales pitch and was originally sold an extended warranty 7yr/100k/$0 deductible/some wear & tear coverage for $2010.00. And, the 3M chiprotect full kit for $1100. Went home happy w/the price of the car but the price of these two items didn't really sit well w/me. Sure enough, next morning went online & found you can buy your extended warranty at ANY time b/f the 3yr expires AND from any Toyota dealership. Saw prices range from $500 - $900. Also, saw prices for the chiprotect in the $495 - 900 range. I called my sales manager, Brian, back and told him this new found info and he was pleasant and said he would take off the extended warranty no problem and if I could back to him w/quotes on the chiprotect he'd be happy to work things out for me. Then he quoted ballpark of $750*, $30 either way for the chiprotect. I figure that is a fair price considering since it just arrived last night and I had to wait for it to get detailed anyways they could get that done at the same time. Currently, in the process of getting these 2 items taken care of so I'll be happy to report if my current overall happiness with Toyota of Kirkland stays that way. Thanks for reading this v/long post - I hope it's helpful!
I just bought a 2008 Toyota Prius in Magnetic Gray with Package 2 for $22,259. I worked with the fleet/internet department of a Toyota Dealership in the Inland Empire and had absolutely no problems. They were understanding, flexible, and dare I say, chill? If you want any contact info, let me know.
Lets see. Straight from the Jag Dealer for the 80K tuneup to the Toyota dealer for a new Prius. Took me 10 minutes to find the one I wanted, Silver 2007 Pkg 4. 24K sticker $2500 rebate tax tittle license delivery trade in trade in payoff filling fees gap sucking in their AC fees 2 hours later I was home in my new Prius. Next day went to the credit union and walked out $27K farther in debt. Oh and the full tank of gas was free.
Gray 2008 BASE model with Cruise Control. $21,400 plus fees. It was around $23,400 OTD. LOVE MY CAR. I'm about 6 feet tall, weigh 215 and have PLENTY of room. Came form a 2004 Ford F-150. Will NEVER go back.
I Bought my 2008 Magnetic Gray in Nov 2007, Paid $22k, PKG 2. All the fees were in the price. Talked them into throwing in wheel locks, some nice matts, and unlimeted oil changes for the life of my car. I didn't have to wait for it (only 2 days for it to get off the truck). I couldn't be more pleased with how it worked out. Then I went to a new owner car meeting at the dealership and made sure I ate my share of sandwiches and snacks.. I didn't want leather and I have a bluetooth GPS already.
Just got quoted a price of $20,995 for the package #2. The dealer gave me the 'you must buy it now if you want that price'. Of course I had to think about it since I hate those 'must buy now tactic'. I didn't know that it was such a great price at the time! Unfortunately, I can't get it in blue, I have to get black, white or red. All Colors (or lack thereof) that my wife isn't crazy about.
It was a new 08. Great price and all but I think we've decided to put off buying it. I like many things about the Prius but there are a few things that bug me. The display graphics are a little dated and the inability to lower the seat makes it difficult for me (I'm 6'3") to see traffic lights. I end up doing the chicken bobbing while at street lights. I think I'm going to wait a year or so and see if they fix these things in the Prius 3.
$24,400 CF WL (with carpeted floor mats and wheel locks) plus tax and license Supposedly "below invoice" per the dealer, but with dealer holdbacks, they made enough money off me. His emailed Internet price was $24,998, but I bargained him down a bit. Consumer Reports "Bottom Line" for this car/package/options is supposedly $24,022.
I just paid $24,719 for an 08 Spectra blue Prius w/package 5, the preferred accessories kit, and wheel locks. I think I got a good deal...thoughts? Patrick
