oh alright. Lemme know when you get it done. I'd like to wire some lights to the rear footwell (I already have the front done).

what's the difference wiring light for rear footwell and the front?
What I am going to do is to have all 4 lights comng from the same supply (there is the hub connector)

I bought the costco cyron, I think I will try to find space for these sticks. They look great... you can change colors by having these Red-Green-Blue LEDs. I'll probably return the IKEA's

There are so many possibilities with the Cyron unit. Do you know where to find the power lead to the dome lights to tap? Let me know if you make progress.

The difference? My fronts are JDM Prius footwell lighting... They plug directly into the dome light plug.

If I were to add rear footwell lighting, it'll have to involve some splicing and since I'm not good with that sorta stuff, I was hoping to get yours and gadgetdad's experience/knowledge on this so I won't splice the wrong wire.

I don't even know what a hub connector is

I may have time this weekend to at least start this project. I think I'll use the cyron version, if I can find a good space under the dash :) it is soo coool. I can set color that I want with the R-G-B combination. Right now I am experimenting if the color will stay at the last state (pause) after turning it off for at least 1 day, otherwise (if the color resets to green), I may have to reconsider, I don't want to keep changing the color setting.

I will tap the supply from the cigarette lighter as I want to have full control when to turn on/off. I haven't looked, but you might want to see darell's evnut.com website for your dome light wire.

Tideland, the hub is like a box for channeling out each LED. think of USB hub: 1 input, several outputs. The hub is provided when you buy cyron or IKEA's LED. I'm not sure if "hub" is the correct term.

ohhhh okok. Yeah I see what you mean.

So yeah I guess all I need is instructions on how to hook that up to the car. I'll probably use green to complement the JDM set. But I'll wait til it gets warmer to do the actual install.

    I used this:
    LITEGLOW 7LEDXS 7-Color Accessory Kit

and it's been awesome! It's pretty easy to tap wires and put in the switch that I used, here's the wiring out of the car before i put it in.

Here's the octo connectors sitting under the cupholder in the center console.

The whole thing cost 80 with the connectors, wires, switch and of course the lights. This is another great product from liteglow. Thanks to Darrell the EVNUT! for the advice about the switch! :)

When the electronic dash lights up you know you're turned on.
As with most hybrids, the gasoline engine shuts off when you're stopped, either in your driveway or at a traffic light. When you hit the gas pedal, everything comes to life and you can move away as with any other mid-size with a slightly underpowered engine. But the excitement of driving the Prius negates any complaints about low power.

One question, for those that really don't care about multi-colors and such, couldn't some LED's just be put under the dash and connected to those wires in the dash lighting box? Of the three wires, which ones would you need to connect to?

So are you gonna do it? Sounds simple but once one gets into routing wires from one side of the dash to the other, finding mounting points, fitting things in between all the other stuff that is there, it can present . . . ahhh . . . difficulties.

If you do make this mod, please write detailed instructions and pictures. If it works, I'll be right behind you.

Positive it will be a good/clean install -easy and cheap.
Might take a little time though, like going to Radio Shack and the install, but that's the fun part!

The Toyota Yaris has an LED foot well lighting option, would this work on a Prius?
Since its a Toyota part it should also we covered under a Toyota warrantee if it goes out.
