Lower. Bay Area dealers are giving away these cars. e.g. Check http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/car/527503938.html NW(#6) Package #6 Includes: Voice-Activated DVD GPS Navigation System; JBL AM/FM 6-Disc CD Changer with 9 Speakers, Aux Audio Input Miniplug, MP3/WMA Playback Capability, Satellite Radio Capability, and Hands-Free Phone Capability via Bluetooth; Vehicle Stability Control; Backup Camera; Smart Key System; Anti-Theft System; Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror with HomeLink; High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps; Integrated Fog Lamps Carpet Floor Mats & Cargo Mat Leather Interior MSRP:$27,884 Internet Price:$25,698 I bought my Pkg5 for $24,000 even at Dublin Toyota. I say print out this ad and ask your dealer to match it. Or else make the $100 trip from SoCal to save $1200.
Thank you very much for your reply. actually, I emailed a few local dealers. some are clueless and quoted me the MSRP (DUHHHH ). but a couple of them game me decent price. So far the best quote I've got was from Penske Toyota Package 6 @ $25,750 which is pretty close to the one you mentioned. BUT here's the catch, they dont have one now, but will get 3 in within 3 weeks, so I have to wait 3 weeks, which is ok by me.
I would play hardball. Ask them to beat the best price you have by $500 or they don't get your business. Sometimes dealers will do that to get you in the door. Then they try selling you maintenance / warranty packages to make money off you... which you can refuse (or buy if you desire).
For the Package 4, I paid $26,500. This included everything but leather seats and navigation system. This is the regular 200 prius.
I wanted to offer many thanks to this thread and Discoganya for posting Melody Toyota's Internet prices on the 2008 Prius.. You, PriusChat and this thread saved me $1736. To make a long story short, I got my 2008 Prius Package#6 in Magnetic Gray at Melody Toyota in San Bruno for $25,600 before tax/lic on January 10, 2008. Thanks Raj and Henry from Melody Toyota - the easiest, lowest pressure sale I've ever experienced. I live in SoCal and had emailed multiple socal dealers several weeks prior. The lowest quote I got was $27,336. Discouraged and ready to give up, I went on a business trip to NorCal. On the last day of my trip, I happen to stumble across Discoganya's posting. Called Melody Toyota that morning and confirmed the $25,698 price for a 08 Prius w/ pk#6 - actually, Raj lowered the price to $25,600 over the phone. I was sold.. They didn't have the Mag Gray I wanted so they did a dealer trade. I canceled my flight back to SoCal, returned my rental car at a different airport (I rented it at Oakland but returned it at SFO), had Raj from Melody Toyota pick me up from SFO and did the deal at 6:30PM. I was out the door by 8:00PM and drove back (350 miles) to SoCal by 2:30am - averaged 43MPG on my first tank! Melody Toyota - AWESOME.. I never thought I'd make that comment on any car dealership.. and NO I'm not on their payroll. I was so discouraged by the SoCal dealers. I'm just happy I got a such a good/fair deal and they bent over backwards to win my business.
discoganya, for your pkg 5 at $24k even who did you deal with at Dublin Toyota? Sounds liek a great deal!
Here's my 2c as a newbie (picked up the 2008 Black Package #5 yesterday!): Sent request for quote to 21 NJ dealerships, asking for $26,000 out-the-door. 6 did not respond. 2 responded after 2 days (by which time I'd bought the car!). 2 did not have cars in stock. Leaving 6 who were not interested in bidding up (or indulged in some shinanegans) and 4 who tendered bids. After some tough negotiating I ended up with $27,000 out-the-door (which was $24,800 for the vehicle) and off-loaded my previous bucket-of-bolts for a very good trade! Reading various posts I was hoping to get another $500 below this, but the dealers were playing tough on the Prius - if I had wanted another color there may have been more leverage, but there were not too many black vehicles in stock. The dealership I worked with was very transparent on their pricing from the get-go (including the various fees that made up the invoice price) and all the people I dealt with were pleasant, professional and extremely helpful. Closing was easy (no shinanegans) and the Customer Service Manager gave a very thorough review of the car's workings - especially the Nav system. So, overall very happy with the process and having the car!
James Toyota in Flemington. You'll need to get pricing from elsewhere and negotiate, but they were actually very good to deal with both during negotiation and once the pricing was agreed.
Check out this web-site: Some good general principles... Will work much better on a Ford, but is you can get a couple of grand off your Prius they are tips worth using. CarBuyingTips.com new car buying guide, avoiding dealer scams, new cars, used car buying
Alix, I also live in SoCal (specifically, the SFV). I was getting frustrated with some of the dealers here. The best quote I got was $25,900. Let me know if you get a better quote. Edit: I just bought my new Prius - $25,677 (package 6)!
The NW (#6) Package #6 is for the regular model. Is that right? Is this better than the Touring NR (#6) Package? I'm a newbie and I'm trying to educate myself. I'm gathering quotes from different dealers here in the SoCal area.
I'm also shopping for pck 6 non Touring here in socal. I may need to buy one up north and drive down...
Greetings, I have a qoute for an '08 Touring with pkg #6 at $26,945 with all-weather mats and wheel locks included. The OTD price (with tax, title and plate transfer) is $28,775. Are there any upper midwestern-ers who have done better? AMG...I think you've done very well for yourself. I'm wondering if I can expect to negotiate down to what you have paid Also, to Beach247, where did you find the internet price?
Palmetto: have you got the quote in writing and could upload it here (PDF file)? I'd like to use it as leverage in Tampa. Thanks!
27K - Touring # 6 , Just came off the truck...Had to buy it on the spot...Another buyer was getting ready to purchase it... Hope this helps..
