Okay okay.... I have had numerous emails and PM's from Prius Chat members inquiring about our newest Prius products!! :)

The "other" product that we are currently finalizing is our BT Tech upper strut stiffening brace. This part consists of 3 sections that are made out of aerospace aluminum and steel alloys and offer exceptional rigidity and light weight.

Our production parts will consist of a powdercoated finish and stainless steel fastners will be supplied. I have been working on this design for sometime now and have been through several itterations so that we get the best possible quality and attention to fit and finish.

I have been evaluating this product now for the last several months and the effects are definately noticable. The car has reduced turn-in lean and the car feels more planted in turns and aids directional stability. This part along with our BT Tech stiffening plate really transforms the car and raises the handling and highway stability to a new level.

For those that have already purchased a BT Tech stiffening plate, these two new products will make a perfect addition. We will be offering a "customer loyalty" discount that will apply to the purchase of either of the new products we are soon going to release. These products can ONLY be purchased through the Prius Chat On-Line store. [IMG]

    ooooh very nice.

I got a question... or two.

    1. What's the difference between a solid strut tower brace and one that...welll I don't quite know what it does but it's that Yamaha one found on the Corolla XRS. It has a rubber shield/neck that makes it seem as if the brace can "move" as the body flexes. I hope you've seen that type of brace before.

    2. Is your brace solid or hollow cause from the picture, it looks rather big (bigger than any of the braces I've seen before - factory or aftermarket)

Good idea, Brian. I think my Christmas list just got longer. ;)
Tideland, I'd assume it's tubing, and the larger...I'd say diameter, but it's square...will make it stiffer. That rubber part on the Corolla must be cosmetic, because a brace that flexes that much wouldn't be doing its job.

Where can I get info on the undertray? I don't recall seeing anything about that.

    Strut Tower brace

Brian, for the design of your product, take in consideration this approach, I installed my brace from another Toyota product, full anodized Aluminum T6 and heavy steel plate for the towers base. The brace appliance installs under the cawl with enough clearance.
I'm riding mine well over a year, with a substantial and better performance.
I'm including some pictures for your viewing.

The brace is purty. Now if only it could be triangulated into the firewall somehow...

By tying the bar into the firewall, you create 3 points of attachment which can significantly stiffen the bar by preventing lateral movement of the bar itself when both shock towers flex in the same direction.

Standard procedure when building strut-bars on a race/performance car, but most aftermarket bars skip this as most often there isn't a handy attachment spot without drilling holes into the car.

If you search google images for triangulated strut tower brace you'll see what I mean.

Does the brace interfere with the oil filler access? I already have a hard time getting the funnel in there even without the brace. I already have the rear brace, and will be in line for the front one, as a "loyal" customer. Thanks.
