Ok, you might have noticed that the Mods have laid off this thread so far. For me it's been intentional because this is a place to pick on us. Some of it deserved, I suppose. But let me talk about that "banned word" filter. We actually had an interesting discussion amongst ourselves regarding what to replace the words with. There's always the "Flanders" version of things which would be funny but would probably irritate the original poster. Of course, we ended up with the asterisks because we felt this kept the intent of the post while also somewhat diminishing the intent. While it's impossible to hide the intent, we felt that we could, to some extent, hide the "naughty words". Except from those who already have dirty minds. You know who you are.

Picking on mods? I don't think so. It seems everyone fessing up here is saying they've been warned for good reason. If you want picking on mods, go look for naterprius's latest thread! ;)

Agreed. I think the admins here do a wonderful job. If I didn't, I wouldn't be here.

Is there really a "flanders" filter? I've never heard of it, but I'd really like to see it. Could you implement it for like a month and see how it plays out? If it distorts the posters' intent too much then you can just switch it back. Comedic modification in a vile post would be amusing. No need to vote on it. You can just do it.

None that I can remember. I've been here since late 2004 and I think I'm on good terms with 99.9% of the members. Hopefully that still holds.

Actually it was a religious chat board. Like I said, I didn't stick around long because you were not allowed to actually express any ideas that conflicted with the owner's.

I don't mind the asterisks. As Tom Leherer said, "When correctly viewed, everything is lewd!" "Dirt" is just an insulting word for "soil," and soil is where all our food comes from. I have a dirty mind, which is to say that Mother Earth has blessed my head.

0 times. Which I'm clean as a whistle I am. I've been temped more than a few times, like many folks here. But like most of us who aren't carrot tops of Scottish/Irish decent, I don't have an itchy trigger finger. ;)

If I'm not dancing on the brink of disaster, life is boring.

No, wait, that's a different forum.

Reprimanded twice, banned once (the latter was a disarming experience).

I console myself with the notion that I did receive some public support, discussion ensued...and...hey...BigMahma, what's your 10-20...?

well, it will be a while for anyone south of me to recover. I-5 is under 10 feet of water so exit 68 to exit 88 is closed till maybe the weekend...maybe longer depending on how much damage is done. northbound traffic from Portland to Seattle has been rerouted from its 150 mile trip to one 460 miles long (and a LOT of it is not easy driving especially thru the Cascades southern routes) . Hiway 8 has multiple mudslides taking out sections of the road in several different places.

as for me, i ok... did hit a "puddle" in my Zenn that was about 6 inches deep Monday morning on the way to work...i was in the left lane to avoid buildup near the gutters but this one went all the way across the road and at 5:30 am couldnt tell how deep it was...scary...water and electric cars probably dont mix well and i DO NOT want to find out

P's and Q's means pints and quarts. It's how the ales were served in the Pubs back in merry old England. And so you were held accountable for how much ale you consumed. That's why it's called: "Watch your P's and Q's."

But now a days, most folks use it to convey: "Watch your manners!"

    Hope that helps you TJ.
