    Two things:

    1. The "Quote" or "Post Reply" buttons don't fill in the title. What's with that? Does it automatically use the title of the thread? Then what happens if I type something in there? Or is that some kind of subtitle?

    2. When I try to search simply for posts since my last visit, I get:

"The following errors occurred with your search:
Please specify some words or valid user names to search on. There were no matches for those that you specified."

However I know that there were posts since my last visit, still shown correctly in the upper right corner after the search.

Oh, and my avatar is gone. Ok, three things.

I finally managed to get in. And now don't have time to read each post here that I'm so far behind on.

I've found that I've lost all of my subscribed posts from before. I also had to reset a bunch of stuff (like notification of PM, and to NOT show my age to everybody - that sort of thing). The subscribed threads is my biggest bummer.

Oh, and lookee there. My sig is all screwed up as well.

Love the look of the new interface. I waited until things had evened out and it was worth it. Nice job! I have been through the process of migration from both sides of the computer. Never pretty, but the results are worth it!
    Thank you!

    RSS or Atom Feed Coming?

I love the new look and I also really like the open standards that you use for the site. I was wondering if there is a RSS or Atom Feed to view all new posts? I used to subscribe to: feed://priuschat.com/index.php?act=rssout&id=1 and it worked great until the site upgrade. Thanks for all your time and work to make this great site available.

Can I add a big fat "ME TOO" to this? Is there any way to replicate that functionality? I'm now getting 8 pages of new posts to wade through when I used to only get 1 or 2. Unless it's Prius related, I just don't care about them... I can live with having to manually mark forums as read to clear them off the list, but not being able to filter out the wheat from the chaff is annoying.

Other than that, it does seem better...

    Rss

The RSS feed no longer works. Will that be updated? Also, I did a search in this thread and in all threads for "rss" and got nothing, even though "rss" is in this post. Thank you!

shows my last visit was 12/31/1969

the problem is I was never here and the prius was not invented in the year 1969.
The message I got was " last visit 12/31/1969"

Fixed. Let me know if you find any others that need to be updated.

I do understand your feelings on the subject (and the feelings of those who agree with you), but I have always kept the same opinion on this (and don't see it changing): PriusChat was created to be a community first, resource 2nd. Although it is not necessarily true in your case, many of our long-time members continue to visit the site on a daily basis because of FHOP and would have stopped coming a long time ago had it not been for the "diner" discussion area. And keeping those members around means that they can continue to offer their knowledge with other members when they post in the other forums.

I/we are making steps to give users options when it comes to the OT discussions. The first step we've made is creating FHOPol for political discussions, and I am looking into other ways to create features for members who would like to keep any FHOP threads in their "View New Posts" feature. For right now, though, the best option is to just double click on the [IMG] icon next to FHOP when you first come on the site, then view your new posts.

But Bill (and others) - do know that I am looking into new features to provide the functionality.

That's what took an extra day and a half to figure out. I had to take some code written by a VB staff coder, fix it, then enhance it. And I'm not a programmer - so it took a little time :)

So you're saying "Cat Lovers Against the Bo" doesn't get your point across? Thanks for pointing this out, I'll look into expanding that limit.

    THANK YOU! I've fixed that.

    1. Going to work on that soon. But yes, I do plan on putting that back into place.
    2. This has been covered, I believe. But in case you didn't see it check the list of links under "Quick Links", or there is a link at the bottom of the forums homepage.
    3. Sounds like a bug - I'll check.

    2. As Tony hinted at earlier, I'm going to start testing this tomorrow, hopefully.
    3. I like the idea of limiting the size of signature text to be smaller than the post text. Makes a much cleaner look. It'll probably piss some people off, but I like it.

I think this has been covered by now.

I took it down since it was being buggy. As soon as I figure out what the problem was, I'll enable it again.

Great information - thank you very much for posting this.

    http://priuschat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40139

Thanks for reminding me - I'll add it soon.

Tell the 200 people who have emailed me over the last 2 days with password/username problems that they can't get an email to me :)

Seriously, though, what specifically are you having troubles with on the captcha? One problem we really faced for awhile on the old software was spammers (I received 10ish emails a day through bots using the Contact feature on the old site), so I'm looking to lock down the site as much as possible without impeding on usability.

I'll work on changing the settings back to the way they were on the old forums.

    1. Good suggestion and I'll look to add it depending on how we end up with real estate up on that header bar. Thanks to whoever posted that the link is also under the Quick Links drop-down.

    2. I know that you had your issue resolved, but for anyone who is having capitalization issues, that error message is a bug in the username change script, so just PM myself or a moderator if you want your name changed.

Thank you for your patience! Unfortunately I decided to do this migration right when our multiple family Christmas gatherings are starting (first one this Thursday, then this Saturday), so things might not go as quickly as you would hope. But hey, what we have now is better than the site going down or becoming unusable several times a day.

I'm VERY happy with the speed of the site and hope that you all are, too. More functionality will come!

I think most members' signatures got wonky.

A related problem is that as of this writing, the "edit signature" feature still doesn't work. I can't edit anything --- even stylistic things like font size, color --- without getting this message:
    1. Your signature can not be longer than 500 characters excluding BB Code markup.
    Am I doing something wrong?

Have you tried to delete all your stuff then save your sig? It looks like you have more than 500 characters. I had to remove 2 pictures before I could edit mine.

I love how when you create a new topic, it shows you similar topics so you can make sure it hasn't already been posted.

I also like how you can copy and paste from another web site and it keeps the links in the text.

Very nice upgrade. Awesome performance. I used to have to click on something, then minimize and go do some other web surfing or something on another site. The worst thing I can see about the upgrade is that I can't multi-task any more. I can surf PriusChat as fast as I want now :)

I don't know what you could be doing wrong, but I had no problem editing mine (reducing font size).

    Thanks.

I don't know if I have 500+ characters or not. It's the exact same signature and number of characters that were on the old board software, except that the conversion to the new software increased the size and changed the color of the font. And why should my attempts to merely reduce the size and change the color of the font back to their original format not work if the problem has something to do with the number of characters?

But I guess I'll try your idea to preserve the text of my signature, then delete the entire signature and then insert it (or as much of it as the new software allows) back in.

Is there a way to turn off the spell-checker? I'll continue to ignore it, but it's becoming annoying.

My small peeve is that I can't move from forum to forum. I have to go back to the main PriusChat forum page to move from main forum to mods forum, for example.
