[FONT='Calibri','sans-serif']The DICE was installed in my new 2008 Prius. It works to some extent.
Some features do not work properly.
    1. The text does not display sometimes. In fact it does not display most of the time. Yesterday I tested and 4 out of five times it did not display.
    2. When text is displayed it is one song behind. I do not think this is simply a system lag, due to being able to see the display update when the song changes but it is displaying one song behind what is playing.
    3. When selecting one of the presets (e.g. 2 - to change playlists) all the text info goes away and the only thing left are the preset numbers. I have to select another navigation screen feature then come back to the audio screen to see the text fields. I'm not saying the text fields are always populated with the iPod data but the field placeholders are present.
    4. When we unplug my iPod Nano and plug in my wife's iPod Nano the systems becomes confused. We have to start the car several times with a 30 second pause between starts to get it to work at all.

Are these problems common to all years of the Toyota Prius?
Are their ongoing updated to the DICE units? If so can I get mine updated or replaced when some of these features are working properly.
Perhaps these are 2008 Toyota/Prius issues.

We also installed the SIRIUS satilite and it works very well. No problems.

So far we are unhappy. Please help.

Have you attempted to reset the iPods and see if that makes a difference?

Do you have the kit installed in CD/MP3 mode or SAT mode?

That's some weird, weird stuff you got there, especially the part about the track info being a song behind since all that is controlled by the iPod. PM me your info and contract stuff and I'll set you up for an exchange.

I got the DICE during the initial group buy a year or so ago. It never worked as described. Without a lab notebook and a lot of time I can't begin to tell you all the ways it didn't work. I can't waste any more time on it. A query to the folks who made it was responded to in a generic message that asked me if I did the simplest things that nobody would miss.

The worst part was that my XM radio, which I REALLY wanted to work right, started becoming intermittant and, in addition, the right side speakers would go out with every bump in the road, returning on the next bump.

I dismantaled the front of the dash again and found that their cable plug, that goes into the radio, wouldn't snap in, causing the bump-related problems. A misaligned pin hole. (The XM plugs into this cable upstream and was so affected.)

I finally took it out, plugged the XM back into the radio (where it easily clicked in securely.) I play my iPod through the AUX input in the arm rest where it is connected through a Belkin module that simultaneously charges it and outputs the music through the iPod's bottom plug where the best sound is found. No MFB info but I never got much from DICE there anyhow.

My advice? Toss the DICE. They come up snake-eyes with me.

    DICE units?

Can some one explain what that is?

Thanks again for putting up with my questions.

Allows you to plug-in your iPod and control it from the headunit/steering wheel.

    Me Too!!!!

I also just bought the DICE Ipod Integration kit, and put it in my brand new 2008 Prius with Package #6 (JBL sterio)

EVERYTHING you have described above happens to me. Word for word. I am being sent a replacement, but I fear it will behave the same way. I have not had text on the screen in three days.

When I do get text, it is a song behind, and if I press (2) it displays whatever I was on last. If I then press (5), it will tell me I am on the playlist page. If I then press (1), it says IPOD[SEL] which is normally on the page (5) screen.

Also very upset with the product so far, but I do seem to be getting some service. I just fear, this isn't going to go away with the replaced unit. It arrives tomorrow . . . I'll keep you posted.

Well the good news is we have a very nice gentleman driving down from LA to visit us with his 2008, so we'll find out what Toyota changed. They told us nothing, but obviously something did.

No, a damaged receptor on the required DICE plug that goes into the radio. But that only explains the intermittant problem. Even when it was making contact, the MFD screen never performed as advertised. I'm lucky the DICE plug didn't bend my pin or I'd not have been able to re-insert the XM radio plug without removing the whole radio.

My communications with the manufacturer back then were of the nature that they had never heard of the problem with the MFD and selection options before. My car is a 2006 and there were lots of complaints here at that time about these matters. It looks like the same problems exist on the later Prius years and they seem to still be looking for the problem. I don't think Toyota changed anything if the same problems have existed for all these models.

It shouldn't be long, we were already working on the updated code for it. The gentleman just left with the kit working correctly in SAT mode. We'll let that stew for a few days and he'll report back on what he finds.

    Replacement didn't work either

    Glad to hear it.

I got the one you sent me to replace the one I have. It offers no change in performance.

Additionally, one of the pins on the dip switch is broken. Can I send you that one back instead of the one it is replacing (since they both perform the same way)

Then when the bugs are worked out, you all can send me an udpated one as well.

    Will that work?

    Thanks for your help,
    Todd

I have the Sirius working in SAT mode. Will both the Sirius and DICE work in SAT mode? Does the gentalmen doing your testing have Sirius installed?

No, you couldn't have both - Toyota's headunits can't handle two sat tuners, and there's no real reason to anyway.

He doesn't have satellite radio. But if he did, just like you he would be using the kit in CD/MP3 mode. We just haven't debugged CD/MP3 mode yet ;)
