gee when most americans opinions are formed by the evening news?? how could they be labeled stupid.

when a VERY small disinformation campaign on GW derailed the movement to slow it down by at least 15 years??? today after the overwhelming body of evidence, there are still people who say GW is a myth simply because of a news blurb they saw on TV 5 years ago...

it constantly amazes me how much stock we put into the news on TV when its primary use is a disinformation source primarily controlled by big business and the federal government. we are fed BS and gobble it up willingly at a rate that is pathetic.

And it still amazes me that people think the GW is caused by humans and that humans can stop it. It also amazes me how many people believe in Algores lies, especially him being the #1 hypocrite of all times! There is more and more pure scientific proof coming out from Real scientists debunking a LOT of what Gore and those of his ilk have been saying. A lot of what this is all about is lining the pockets of business and politicians. Get real.

Do we need to help clean up the mess we made in the environment? yes
Should we do our part to curb oil use? Yes
Do we need to cry the sky is falling over something that will occur no matter what we do? NO
Do we need to go back to the stone age pulling our stuff around in wagons and living under candle light? NO

Past scientific explorations have shown that what we are experiencing now has happened before, many times since the earth was first born. Was it due to the cavemans farting after eating up the mammoths? I dont think so. GW is nothing more than a political train wreck that we will all someday look at and say Wth were we thinking?

True. I've always said, its nice trying curb emissions, but the earth is going to change climates on its own. We need to focus on long term climate control. Obviously much harder than eliminating man-made carbon in the atmosphere but we better figure it out before the next ice age. People can only grasp onto what they can control though. Its not a simple as burning less fossil fuel.

So what do you think of the IPCC's latest assessment?

Or the EPA's, EIA's, NOAA, NASA, etc..... stance on 'climate change' ?

Think they're all led around by 'Al Gore's lies'?

Climate change is very complicated indeed.

The IPCC latest assessment is 'it is very likely that human activities of burning fossil fuels have contributed to an adverse affect on the climate'. (It's very close to this statement)

    see 4th assessment

Look it up and decide if you want to declare the world's authoritative bodies as mistaken.

Exactly which part of this is the myth?

    1) We are burning fossil fuels.
    2) Which creates CO2.
    3) That CO2 goes into the atmosphere.
    4) The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere rises (which it has <1>).
    5) CO2 in the atmosphere traps infrared radiation (verifiable in a lab).
    6) Which increases the net energy of the Earth system.
    7) Climate is based largely on the energy balance of the system.

<1> The entire recent increase in CO2 levels can be accounted for by 60% of the recent (300 years) fossil fuel burned CO2. In other words, of all the CO2 we have created 60% is still in the atmosphere, and if we hadn't the atmospheric CO2 would not have changed.

    Right. Just ask the Dinosaurs.

In fact this defense also works great if you are every tried for murder. "People have died many times since the Earth was first born. Why am I being blamed for this corpse with a bullet from my gun in his head?"

So here is an interesting question: What is our part of curbing oil use?

How about using less than our share of oil production? Seems a reasonable start to me.

So what is our share? World production for 2009 was 84,240,000 barrels per day. World population in 2009: 6,809,972,000 persons. Simple division gives us 0.0123 barrels per person per day, or 0.519 gallons per person per day.

There it is: you get 0.519 gallons per day. Now split that between gasoline for your car; jet fuel for plane travel; heating fuel for your house, electrical plants providing your electricity; fertilizer, tractor fuel, truck fuel, refrigeration, processing, cooking of your food; the embodied energy of all your stuff, and on and on.

Now doing your share to reduce that, means using less than that 0.519 gallons per day.

It takes electricity to free hydrogen from water. A lot of it. The energy required will propel an EV around 4 times farther than a hydrogen vehicle.

In addition, most of the hydrogen available today is stripped from natural gas.

Zombie thread (what .... from 4 years ago this thread was resurrected? but here's to digging up old zombies)
... but I'll bite. Manufacturers continue to say "practical hydrogen transportation is just 10 years away!!" They've been saying it since the early 1970's. Do the math Charlier Brown, the football WILL continue to be pulled out from under you.
