It was flurrying here this morning, but no accumulation. Still
holding 59.x mpg average on this tank, although I have no idea how.
Maybe I got the last of the summer blend?

Yeah, we got lows in the 20's highs in the high 40's. No snowflake on the '06, but I'm using the EBH pretty much everyday, but I also got the Michelin Hydroedge tire on now for about two weeks, and I got the 205 size which has really screwed my mileage. I'm thinking about just using them for winter tires and put on some new ones in March. Great tires, but I can't stand the hit in mileage.

All that, plus winter blend gas and damn...... Just can't wait to get my wheelskins cover in!! then I can dress it up for the holidays !!

We don't have mountains or much elevation, so all we get is lake effect snow, but still it can accumulate. The most we have had in recent years is 240 inches (20 feet) in one season.

here in Chicoutimi there is a lot of snow, about 30 cm right now and the temp is -10 C. My snowflake icon is lit for many days now :lol: .

It is my first experience with my Prius in the snow. Of course I have snow tires... Blizzak by bridgestone. I must say it's a great car, very easy to drive on icy/slippery roads. I even tried to loose control in turns but I was unable because the car was controlling the front wheels traction . It is a bit weird when I try to take off quickly on the ice because it reduce power to the wheels but other then that it's all good.

 

Yep, Winter came early this year.

Mid November and here it will be 44F tonight and sunny/65F tomorrow . . . . burrrrrrrr.
. . . and 20 feet of snow? . . . that will take, oh, about 10,000 years . . . provided we have another Ice Age.

Your location just says "Canada." Lots of folks in the U.S. of A. expect Canada to be snow-covered all year long. I am well aware that's not the case. But much of Canada gets plenty of snow in winter. How about being a bit more specific about your location? There's a lot of variation between Halifax and Vancouver.

It's 25 F. in Spokane this morning at 7:00 a.m. and overcast. No snow in the forecast running up to Saturday. Compared to North Dakota, where I lived for about 30 years, we don't get winter here, and being on the inland side of the state, we don't get much precipitation, rain or snow. The locals think it's cold. I call it enjoyably brisk.

 

Went to bed, seeing the weather forecast said it would rain today.

Woke up to a pile of snow. Will stay at home, canceled plans to get snow tires today.

 

Getting cold here in Maine, and we had a few flakes yesterday. I am southern coastal so we tend to get more rain and freezing rain, unfortunately. I have an '07 Prius and this will be my first winter. I asked how the Prius was in the snow at the dealership and they said get snow tires. Any suggestions on type, model etc? I will need something that does well in ice as well as snow. Thanks.

WTH are snow tires?

 

I use Michelin Hydro-Edge all-season tires. In Fargo, ND, on the ice, they did better on my Prius (due to all the electronic stuff: TC, VSC, ABS) than studded tires did on my old Civic that didn't have any of that stuff.

However, if you get a lot of ice, and if it's permitted, I'd recommend studded tires. (And of course, if you get studded tires, you need to get them all the way around.) I'd also recommend going to a tire store you trust, ask for their recommendation, and then get the top of the line in the category you decide on and the brand you like. Tires are a safety feature, and it makes no sense to scrimp on safety after spending this much on a car.
