I like to think that although I can read, I've reached a point in life at which I don't have to.

Only slightly more seriously, when I bought mine I thought I was buying a car, not a homework assignment.

Marginally more serious yet, start up features so many beeps and bongs I'm not sure I would notice a seatbelt chime. It's like the warm up for an orchestra. The oboe may be in there somewhere, but I don't register it.

That's why I'm not too enamoured with it. I've managed to be surprised, WITH the beep, more than once. But it's better'n nothing.

When I bought my 2025 Camry. I thought I was buying a car for cash from a dealer, not authorizing Toyota to torment me with marketing emails. When you opt out of marketing, they just call them "transactional emails" because you bought a car. GRRR

I've never had to resort to reading the manual.

IMHO using the forum as an alternate to reading the manual is an abuse of the forum and kind members here.

700 plus pages, and Toyota chooses not to describe an oil or transmission fluid change. Honda's better in that regard (example attached).

I am looking forward to blindly doing an oil & filter change on my 2025 Camry.
The manuals talk about towing a vehicle, but not how to get it into Neutral after a collision disables the Hybrid system.

I find it ironic that the older generation that regularly bemoans that younger generations don't know how to do this or that, are the same ones that can't learn a simple concept like CTRL-F. Or the function of an index. lol

If the airbags can't save you, neither can the seatbelts.

Yes, I read all that in the manual. And, yes, I know that dealers have the capability to turn off the buzzers, but what I doubt is that they would elect to do this for a customer (liability and all).

In any case, the carista just gives an owner the capability to make all of the changes that normally only the dealer can make. I would rather not have to deal with the local dealership, as I doubt they would make these changes for me and, even more, I doubt that they would make these changes for me for free (seeing as I did not buy my prius phev from them).

Beyond moving my car a couple of yards on my driveway, I always use my seatbelt. And, I have driven cars without seatbelt buzzers for years and years, so I really do not need an annoying buzzer/beeper to tell me to do what I already do.

No worries, I understand your concern and, for some, there may be a slippery slope, but I manage to stay safe. Very safe.

I ordered the Carista, thanks for the recommendation! For me, the thing about the seat belt warning is the way it gets louder and louder, if it stayed at the initial volume then it would be tolerable. At a drive-through I typically unbuckle the belt to get my wallet out of my pocket, place the order, pay, put wallet back in pocket, buckle up and go on.. I'm glad I will be able to do that without the noise.

Fully understand not wanting to have to go through the dealer. Just pointing it out for those unaware. It seems most dealers will make the changes for a customer that purchased the car from them at least once for free. I just suspect a US dealer would worry about liability with the seatbelt buzzer option.

I'd suggest to those looking to buy any car to look into what dealer adustable settings there are, and make any changes they want to be part of the deal.
